Hack The Violence: The Prototyping + Marketing Hackathon Powered By Pivotal Labs & Microsoft
Saturday, July 8th - Sunday, July 9th, 2017 | Pivotal Labs (Ponce City Market)
Here’s the deal. Way too many people in the United States are affected by violence each year. But Goodie College Lab: Hack The Violence is meant to change that. It is a 4-week social impact tech incubator where college students get a taste of the startup life, and see their ideas about ways to combat violence get turned into reality.
This Prototype + Marketing Hackathon, Phase II in the program, is a 2-day experience where UI/UX designers, digital marketers, entrepreneurs, web designers, branding/communication specialists, business analysts, and graphic designers donate their talent, and join the teams of these college founders in an effort to turn their ideas to combat violence into clickable prototypes, landing pages, logos, revenue models, and plans to get to their first 100 users/customers.
This is your chance to help those impacted by violence, and possibly win $1,000. It’s a mashup of social good, tech, entrepreneurship and highly-skilled people, and, quite possibly, the coolest community service project you’ll ever experience. Register and join our community of changemakers today!

FAQs
How much does it cost?
It's completely FREE! With dinner, snacks, and beverages provided. BUT Donations are GREATLY appreciated to help us continue to have these each month!
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
All ages are welcome -- our youngest hackathon winner was 3 years old! However, to partake in the adult beverages, you must show you're 21.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Parking is available in the front of the building (easiest to find us), the back, and on the street.
I'm not a techie. Can I come?
While "hackathon" generally conjures the image of folks sitting in a room with their computers and having a massive coding marathon, that's not what the hackathons of the maker movement are all about. We encourage you to make ANYTHING. Most of our projects are physical objects of some kind. Some folks build furniture, some do oil paintings, some knit, some do tech based projects. The whole point is to see what you can accomplish in 4 hours. And it's really fun to try something new!
What if I don't have a project? Can I still come?
We highly encourage people to come even without a project in mind. You get to meet everyone, have pizza, and see what it's all about. "Make Anything" includes making friends. Plus! Usually there is a project that newcomers are PERFECT for helping on! We also have tons of things that you can learn to do like 3D printing, soldering, or prototyping.

18 Apr - 07:30 PM
Atlanta, United States
ABSTRACT: We will lead a healthy, fun, and mature dialogue on whether or not drinking enhances the thinking and creativity of those within the technology industry. If not, what beverage vice do people use in the technology industry to get their creative juices flowing (i.e. red bull, coffee, soda, 5 Hour Energy, etc...)? Does alcohol influence consumers to be more vested in technology (i.e. music, Apple, Pandora, hackathons, Netflix, etc...)? We will explore if there is any correlation between alcohol and technology.
