DigiGirlz is a YouthSpark program designed to empower teens interested  in positively impacting their community and the world through the pursuit of careers in Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) .    Welcome to the 1st Microsoft DigiGirlz 2015 - Held on the University of Oklahoma Campus.   We are excited to have you attend this camp to learn about careers in technology, connect with business and technology leaders in our community, and participate in hands-on technology and business workshops. Below is a tentative agenda, and the break out session overview.   TIME EVENT 8:00 – 9:00 am Registration   9:00 – 9:15am Introduction and Welcome  9:15 – 10:00am Keynote: Cameron Evans 10:00 – 10:05 am Transition/Break 10:05 – 11:00am Sessions A, B, C, D,   11:00 – 11:05am Transition/Break 11:05am– 12:05pm Sessions A, B, C, D, 12:10 – 12:55pm Lunch and Networking: Career and College Planning Session and STEM Panel  1:00pm -3:15 pm Sessions A, B, C, D, 3:15pm – 3:20pm Transition/Break 3:25pm – 3:30pm Close & Tour of the One U Store   Break Out Sessions  Hacker Labs (Classroom Style) During this limited seating hack-a-thon styled session students will be provided with an overview of various tools, technologies and methodologies for creating, developing and selling applications. Seasoned developers will guide students through each step of the creation process and discuss careers and opportunities to further refine their interest in this exciting field.   Engineering Challenge: Tower Structure Challenge Groups will be divided by age into teams of 10-15 and will have a limited time to create a tower structure made from straws, paperclips, rubber bands and other materials supplied by facilitator. The goal of the project is to construct an object capable of holding a standard volleyball. Teams will be scored on tower height, strength and use of materials. Participants will have 45 minutes to complete this activity.   Entrepreneurship: The world of the Tech Entrepreneur Often times when we think of careers we imagine ourselves working for a company we are familiar with. However, have you ever wondered what it would be like to create the next Dell, Intel, Microsoft, Facebook or Twitter? This session will discuss the world of the tech entrepreneur and provide insight into creating your very own “start-up” company.   Fostering Creativity and Academic Exploration with Office Mix, Bing for Education, OneNote, and Windows 10 Today’s youth are exposed to a range of options and messages related to the usage of technology. In a world which seemingly introduces new forms of media each day, how can students ensure they are leveraging tools and technologies that enable a safe, reliable, and secure platform to express personal interests, explore intellectual pursuits and achieve academic success? This session provides an overview of cloud based tools and applications, offers tips on computing safety, and introduces solutions that students can leverage to fully engage in the learning process anytime and anywhere.   FAQs  Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?   Students in Grade 7-12 - Please register you as the teacher or sponsor along with your students.  What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Students may be dropped off directly at the event location. Cars can park in the Student Union Parking Garage. Buses can park at the Lloyd Noble Center – free shuttles provide access to main campus.  Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
