    2018 Avogadro User Meeting

    The first annual Avogadro User Group meeting will take place on August 25 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and is hosted by Prof. Geoffrey Hutchison at the University of Pittsburgh. The meeting will take place in the Department of Chemistry, Chevron Science Center. Morning: Talks, lightning talks, roundtable discussion of development plans. Afternoon: Tutorials and hackathon There will, of course, be social activities, including dinner after the event. Registration is free. We are looking for people who are willing to do presentations, talktorials or posters. If you're interested in contributing, please contact Geoff and Marcus Hanwell.

      Game Jam Pittsburgh (GJPGH) was a unique 48 hour hackathon where makers, designers, programmers, and tinkerers came together for a weekend of workshopping their game ideas. This year 19 teams created digital and physical games. We need your help picking a winner. Swing by for an evening of gaming and networking. Food and drink provided.         SUDS Workshop: Google Cloud Platform

        This workshop will be a hands-on introduction to cloud computing using Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In the workshop we'll discuss what the cloud is and cover some of GCP's tools that can bring your projects to the next level. The workshop will be led by CMU student Arman Hezarkhani. Arman is pursuing a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, but works part time as a Google Cloud Platform Student Consultant. He has traveled with Google around the country speaking at hackathons, conferences, and faculty summits.

          University Students! Help Bayer bridge the gap between life sciences and tech. Show off your creative technology solutions to a Bayer business challenge, e.g. Chat-Bots, Big Data, etc. The event includes guest speakers, mentors, swag and a lot of food. Pitch your team's ideas to an expert panel of judges to win a cash prize and the coveted title of the Bayer Hackathon winner! Form your team and register now! Registration: Students must form a team of 3-5 prior to registration. However, each participant MUST register individually. Each team member must register individually! Once you have your team registered, it can't hurt to game plan. Determine your team's strengths and weaknesses. What is a Hackathon? A hackathon is an event for tinkerers, innovators, tech gurus, and those passionate about changing the world. They bring together the brightest minds for 36 hours to create new and exciting solutions to the challenges of today. Hackers are invited, but not required, to work throughout the night on their solutions. Who can participate? Any student who is at least 18 years of age and attending a college or university. (Don't forget to form your team of 3-5 prior to registering!) All fields of study are welcome! Does the hackathon cost money? Nope! Bayer will provide you with a weekend worth of meals, coffee, and snacks to get you through. Not to mention a bunch of free swag. What should I bring to the event? Bring your computer, cell, headphones, chargers, and any other devices you will need to hack. We strongly encourage that you bring a pillow, sleeping bag, toiletries, and a change of clothes.
