    ABOUT IX Health 2017, Civic Health Tech Edition, will showcase new tech-enabled models that empower citizen and community health stakeholders with novel and breakthrough tech for more fluid, people-powered healthcare. Keynote speaker Adam Hecktman, Microsoft's Director of Civic Technology and Innovation - Chicago, will share his experiences digging into Chicago's biggest civic challenges using untapped data, including healthcare use cases. This year we expect over 175 executives from Humana, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, Mercy Health, Cincinnati Childrens, Johnson & Johnson, City of Cincinnati and several other organizations, investors and growth leaders to attend to re-imagine value propositions and source innovation needs.       Infographics for Social Change: A Graphic Ally Hackathon

      Become a Graphic Ally! Learn how to tell visual data stories to inspire policy change and mobilize information at the grassroots level. In this hands on workshop, we will explore and apply principles of conscious and responsible design to a real world infographic project. Topics covered are as follows: icon drafting, infographic composition, power dynamics in design, data framing, asset vs. deficit mapping, access to information, and grassroots design strategies. Learn how to map out infographic solutions for reaching and activating policy makers, people with resources, low-opportunity communities, and more. Participants will leave with an actionable list of design strategies, and with experience creating an infographic for a local nonprofit or community group.   About the presenter: A designer and activist from Louisville, Kentucky, Jessica Bellamy tells visual stories using data and personal narratives. In her work driving social change through design, she partners with nonprofits and community groups to creating compelling materials that break down complex service and policy information. She currently is an Adobe Creative Resident and is spending the next year trying new approaches in her creative process and execution of her designs as well as encouraging the creative community to support nonprofits and work with them on creative projects. Prior to the Creative Residency she founded and ran GRIDS: The Grassroots Information Design Studio in Louisville working with local and national non-profits, community groups, and social change initiatives.         Welcome to our second annual 84.51° Hackathon! This year's theme is Artificial Intelligence (AI)! AI is a very popular topic in the technology world today, and for good reason. It is threatening to disrupt many industries and is changing the way we think about our work. The goal of the hackathon is to develop a solution utilizing AI to solve a problem that we face today. We do have a waitlist once all 200 spots are filled. Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?You must be currently enrolled at a college or university and 18 years or older. Bring your current, valid university student ID. How do teams work?Teams can consist of 1-4 people. You can work on your own, but in our experience, a hackathon is always more fun when collaborating with someone. You can register individually or with specified teammates. What if we don't have an idea?A team of passionate mentors has been assembled and will be available to help you achieve your goals. Will there be food?Yes, we will be providing meals and snacks. Are there prizes?Yes! Do you provide transportation to the event or parking reimbursement?We do not provide transportation or reimburse for parking. Can I use third party APIs?The use of free third-party APIs and libraries is allowed and encouraged. Can I start my hack before the event?You are not allowed to progress work on your hack before the event. What can/can't I bring to the event?Bring your laptop, a charger, a power strip, and hardware you might need, and your student ID. How does judging work?A panel of judges will assess the hacks based on design, difficulty, creativity and ability to go to market. Five hacks will be selected for demo and a final round of judging. Is my registration/ticket transferrable?Nope, sorry. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?Yes, bring your printed ticket and a current, valid student ID. Is it okay if the name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee?No. Make sure you have the correct printed ticket. Will sleeping quarters be provided?Due to limited space, there will be no access to sleeping quarters or showers. Do you follow a code of conduct?We abide by The Major League Hacking Code of Conduct. By participating in the 84.51º hackathon, you agree to this same Code of Conduct. Is there a deadline for registration?Yes, registration will close on 8/12, so be sure to register before then! Do I need to be in a particular major to attend?You do not need to be in a particular major to attend, however, since this is a technical event, it is geared more towards majors such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or another technically-strong major. What happens if I can no longer attend?If you can no longer attend the event, you are encouragd to cancel your order on Eventbrite. You can go to your "My Tickets" page, find this event, and then click on "Cancel Order".
