Now it’s the time for us come back to the Moon again. It’s soexciting that we have so many young scientists design and build their own robots so we maysurvive at the Moon surface. Come to see their projects and robots and share their joyful Moonexploration! 2018 Official Contest Rules 1.Eligibility Requirements 1.1 Each competing team consists of 2 to 3 student members. To be eligible to compete, the student must be enrolled for the current school year in grades 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, or 12 at a middle school or high school, or a equivalent school (for home schooling or other special education program) in southern California area, and be born on or after October 1, 1999 and on or before October 1, 2006. 1.2 No student may compete on more than one team. 2. Competition Topics Scenes: “the Moon surface” – a 48”x72” cartoon board with two craters: one with 12” diameter, one with 18” diameter, both ~ 2” high. A 2” cube food package dropped in 18” crater. A 1”diameter and 2” long water tank is inside 12” crater. Both of them should be moved out thecraters.Each team IN/OUT time: 20 min.Team reset / preparation (program adjustment): 3 min.S1 ~ S3: Show the functions and design ideas – 10 Min;S4 ~ S5: 3 min.S6 ~ S8: 4 min. Do you enjoy building dashboards for fun?  Putting your powerful analytics skills to go use?  Have a passion for data and animals?  If so, we are welcoming you and other experienced Tableau users in the LA area, or beyond, to join us in helping this non-profit analyze thier data! How can they instead become active participants and influencers in the changes that affect them most? In this 1-day design hackathon, participants will use design thinking in an entrepreneurial spirit to address social, economic, and environmental challenges specific to the South L.A. community. Issues include homelessness, gentrification, lack of healthy food options, lack of tech opportunities, high foster child rates, voter discrimination, gun violence, the #MeToo movement, pollution and more. Participants will learn about these challenges with kick-off talks, and then form teams to brainstorm and rapidly prototype solutions. There is a possibility that projects developed during the hackathon may be featured at the next TEDx Crenshaw event. Hosted by Forbes published tech startup entrepreneur Cassie Betts, HOOD HACKS will grant you insider info to what's happening in our community of South LA, from local businesses, to programs and opportunities. At MISLA, we believe one way to battle the ill effects of gentrification is to educate ourselves and to apply our learning in the world of startups, entrepreneurialism and coding.  Tech startups have the ability to generate millions, if not billions of dollars for the economy.  The average starting pay for a high-level programmer is $100k+.  By focusing on startups and technology training, our communities can not only survive, but thrive in this technological era.                     Who Should Attend? The Brother Mobile App Hackathon is designed to encourage developers, designers, business professionals, and students to submit software apps or prototypes that integrate with a Brother QL Label Printer, or a Brother RuggedJet printer/labeler. Each team will receive a brand new QL-820NWB printer and supplies. Team can keep the printer as long as the team members participate in the competition. Judged by key influencers within the industry, the Contest seeks to identify talented individuals and teams from across the U.S. The prizes will be awarded to the best entries submitted. What Should We Do? Anyone with any idea that can challenge coders and graphics designers should sign up and present the idea. An iOS or Android coder can spend as little as 30 minutes to download the SDK and have the printer working within minutes. The graphics designer will design the output that the coder can print. The team will design a great user experience. Together you will try to complete the mobile app as much as possible using any one of the Brother's printers. There are lots of things you can do. Does it solve a big problem or a little problem? ORIGINALITY: Is the hack more than just another generic social/mobile/local app? Does it do something entirely novel, or take a fresh approach to an old problem? Is the project new and something that hasn’t been attempted before? Is it something that isn't being addressed by the market? PRESENTATION: How well did the team communicate their project? Are they effective in telling the story of the project and why it is important? POLISH / DESIGN: Is the hack usable in its current state? Is the user experience smooth? Does everything appear to work? Is it well designed? Submission Guidelines Create a mobile application that is sustainable on a tablet or smartphone device. Write a concise description or create a business plan for the application. Present to the judges why your application would be successful. A portion of the coding must be done onsite at the Hackathon.
