Show your IMPACT during our special remote API-based hackathon!
23 May - 06:00 PM
San Francisco, United States
IMPACT is thrilled to organize a special remote hackathon in San Francisco for an entire week, from Tuesday, May 23rd to Tuesday, May 30th.
You will have the opportunity to work and play around with one of 2 great APIs: Hydrao and QuasarDB.
The challenge is open to anyone willing to play with and build off of our APIs. On top of the amazing people you will meet and the great work you will do, you will compete for one of the top 2 prizes, with a combined value of $2,000. Participants must attend the opening (May 23th) and closing events (May 30th) in San Francisco. It's going to be a lot of fun!
We thank our sponsor OVH. With a community of over 1,000,000 customers, OVH is the third largest internet hosting company in the world.
Challenges
1. Save the planet with Hydrao
Our connected showerhead stores a large volume of data measured during showers: pressure, volume of water, user habits and location of the shower. This data is quite unique: new applications can result, especially if properly correlated with publicly available data (water parameters, maps, ...)
The challenge is to demonstrate a visually striking application of our data.
Your project will be judged based on Originality, Relevance, and Quality of the pitch.
2. Leverage QuasarDB's power
QuasarDB is a time series database with extreme ingress and real-time processing capabilities. It is typically used for real-time processing of market data, and predictive maintenance.
How to demonstrate QuasarDB's power in a visual way?
Your project will be judged based on Relevance.
Prizes
The top two teams participating in the hackathon will win prizes.
1st team: Prize valued at $1,500
2nd team: Prize valued at $500
Bonus Prize for each best team in each track:
Hydrao: Shower heads
QuasarDB: Free usage of a QuasarDB cluster of unlimited size for 1 year

Rules
There will be two tracks with a different API for each. Your team (2 to 4 people, everyone needs to register for the event) must select and compete in one track only, there will be common prizes for the whole hackathon.
All code developed as part of the IMPACT hackathon must be fresh. To keep things fair, all codes must be written during the length of the hackathon starting at 8:15 pm on Tuesday. Other than that, almost anything goes and you can use any coding languages, open-source libraries, and APIs.
HACKATHON REQUIREMENTS
Each team is required to submit their project on Agorize no later than 10 am on Tuesday. On Tuesday evening, accepted submissions will be given 2 minutes to pitch their functioning solution in front of the judges followed by a 1 minute Q&A session. Your presentation format is up to you, but it is recommended to share a very brief visual, e.g. PowerPoint or a video combined with a demo of the solution developed. We will provide you with projection equipment.
Hackers who can’t attend the closing event in San Francisco will not be eligible for the prizes.
WHO OWNS THE IP?
Rights will be shared.
PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT
You will have to sign a participation agreement on the day the Hackathon begins. Both hackers and makers will be required to sign the agreements.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Depending on which challenge you choose, you might be judged on up to 4 criteria:
1. How innovative the project is
Includes the degree of innovation demonstrated using the API and the extent to which the API is key in the solution.
2. User experience and design
Includes how user-friendly and aesthetic the solution is.
3. How well it works
Includes the extent to which the solution does what it is supposed to do and how good the code is written from a performance point of view.
