CODE ON: Intro to Web Development is a one day Saturday workshop geared towards beginners (No prior coding experience needed). Powered by DevPoint Labs at our campus. Get a feel of our campus and DevPoint's instructor will guide you hands-on through some of the most sought-after tech skills in Web Development. You'll learn key HTML/CSS and JavaScript concepts. Lunch will be provided and you will be able to interact with our current students as they have a Hackathon that day.
INTENDED AUDIENCE
This is intended for any beginners that want to know more about coding and Web Development. No prior experience needed! Seats will be limited to 25.
PREREQUISITES
We recommend all attendees of this workshop have all of the following prerequisites:
Bring a Laptop
Have an open heart and an open mind
Be ready to work in groups!
Please arrive 15 min. early to set up your laptop + wifi
DELIVERY METHOD
This session will be delivered by DevPoint Labs Instructors through a mix of instructor-led training and guided hands-on labs. Hands-on labs require you to bring your own Windows/Mac/Linux laptop. (Your laptop must have administrator privileges. If using Linux, you will need to be administrator user level.)

Geoscience Hackathon 2018

The theme will be MACHINE LEARNING. Teams of 4 will be exploring geological datasets, applying the latest methods and models to tease out new insights. Beginners and professionals alike will be spending the weekend eating tacos and creating new stuff.

Geoscience Hackathon Bootcamp

Please note: this is a precursor event affiliated with the Geoscience Hackathon.
This event is for those hackathon participants who feel they would benefit from some practical training and guidance before the hackathon kicks off. The bootcamp will consist of several small group sessions and tutorials to get you equipped and up to up to speed for the weekend.We'll clusters learners around a number of subject-matter experts, who will give lessons and host exercises to accommodate a range of experience levels. For the folks who have never coded before, we'll start from zero and load you up with the tricks, tools, and terminology you'll need. More competent practitioners will choose from a collection of programming tutorials and exercises to fill-in knowledge gaps, learn new skills and resources, as well as execute and interrogate some state-of-the-art machine learning processes on their own laptops.
If you've never been to a hackathon before, or if you're new to coding, this day is for you.
