Hackers in San Francisco and the Bay Area! If you're into messaging bots and voice-interactive technologies, then Dashbot invites you to sign up for the Hackathon: Bot or Not. You'll be challenged to build a messaging bot on Teams or Facebook, or build a Skill on Alexa. Collaborate on a team of 3-5 like-minded techies and build your project and integrate it with Dashbot analytics. Compete for the recognition and the chance to win some awesome prizes.

How will the world be fed in the future? With the changing environment and stresses on the food chain, how will the world feed 9 billion people in 2050? If that's a question that keeps you awake at night, then you should sign up to participate in the #CropsOnMars Hackathon. The notion is that the world needs ways to grow food in the harshest of environments -- like Mars! Participate in #CropsOnMars and you'll be challenged to come up with q software, data or design solution that promises a super-innovative way to grow food. Your solution will be judged on Originality, Sustainability, Scalability, and Reproducibility.

Hurricanes, Earthquakes and Wildfires -- Creating technology to support communities in preparing for, surviving and recovering from natural disasters.   Preparing, surviving, and recovering from disasters challenges information flow, coordination of services, redirection of needed supplies, maintenance of order and safety, and even basic survival.    Your team's mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to create technology-based solutions to aid people (or animals!) in preparing for, surviving, and recovering from natural disasters.    Teams can use any hardware or software technology to create their solution. We encourage teams of computer programmers, designers, and artists to work with students in other fields, including environmental science, health and human services, and business.   Local computer engineers and designers will be available to mentor the teams during the weekend. Sunday afternoon the teams will present their prototype to a team of judges who will choose the top three tech project designs.     Participants will be provided with food and beverages all weekend to keep them fueled up for this intense hacking experience.   Space is limited. Are you interested in ChatBots and/or participating in the Facebook Developer Circles: Oakland Bots Hackathon? On 11/2 we are hosting our second Beginner ChatBot workshop, as well as opening up our space to prospective Hackathon participants that would like to work on their products. In this technical hands-on workshop our instructors walk you through the process of building your first ChatBot, built on the Messenger platform. We will then give you an overview of the industry, and how you can start buildilng ChatBot solutions on your own. Up to 30 prospective hackathon participants are free to come work on your ideas with your teams or solo. A FB Messenger Team member will be in attendance to give you insights as to how you can build a better bot for our  Bots Hackathon on November 18th. Snacks are provided to everyone who attends!
