Black Girls CODE and Capital One invite Black Girls CODE Tech Divas (age 11-14) to a special workshop lead by the bank's own software engineers! This 1-day program is designed to expose students to technology and foster a focus on software engineering. Students will work through a lesson that teaches fundamentals of software engineering through hands-on learning.

The need for no-fee access to legal information is greater than ever before, and law librarians are on the front lines of this crisis. The American Association of Law Libraries is hosting this hackathon for a day of civic app creation! Law librarians know 1) the needs of the people when it comes to legal information, and 2) what data is available. Hackers know how to make this information accessible. A $250 cash prize will be awarded to the creators of the winning entry.

Come to the AT&T Developer Program, in partnership with the Girl Develop It Chicago meetup, and take part in a 3-hour, hands-on coding workshop in which AT&T and Texas Instruments subject matter experts show you how to work with Internet-enabled devices then provide help as you go through coding examples yourself. All attendees will be given a TI MSP432 LaunchPad and a CC3100 SimpleLink Wi-Fi BoosterPack Internet-connected development board for the lab exercises. You'll learn how to connect these to a cloud-based, fully-managed data storage service for network connected machine-to-machine (M2M) devices. Then you'll use AT&T Flow Designer, which lets you rapidly build and deploy complex applications and environments from your favorite browser. So bring your laptop and join this evening of learning, coding and socializing!

    Come to this UX/UI bootcamp for an evening of AR, VR, and UI. As an individuals or as a teams you will work on developing innovative interface elements for AR and VR experiences. UI patterns in the AR/VR space are nascent and device-dependent. Participants are encouraged to consider UI elements for the following interaction technologies: hand-object (Leap Motion, Meta), reticle-object (Cardboard, Gear VR), or controller-object (Oculus Touch, Vive). Bring your own headset in case you would like to test and demonstrate your UI. All participants interested in developing UI elements for AR/VR are welcome!
