This is a mini hackathon organized for the Black History Month 2016. This event will be focused on the black trans community through a variety of virtual events featuring trailblazing technologists, culminating with this one day hackathon in San Francisco.

A hackathon to improve your local government. Bring your ideas and technological skills and take the Challenge. Showcase your own ideas or collaborate with others in your community to see how quickly and accurately you can design and create a software app or concept that addresses a community need in Alameda County.

Coder Con is a mini-hackathon hosted by Coder Central with a focus on education. In a 12-hour rush to create something that can benefit or maybe even transform the field of education, over 75 participants are invited to meet on February 27th, 2016 in San Francisco, California at Heroku Headquarters. Coder Con is organized by high school students in the Bay Area as well as students from UCLA and UC Irvine. Apart from participating in the hackathon, we will host workshops at Coder Con that may help develop your skills or even provide inspiration for your project. People who work closely with the tech industry will be invited to participate to be judges and host their own workshops.  Registration is FREE. Food will be FREE. That's right. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will all be provided for at NO charge. All you have to do is show up with your ticket and a completed non-disclosure form! (and a parental consent form if you're under 18) We will email all necessary forms 1 week prior to the event. If you do not have the completed forms, you may be restricted from entering the facility. FAQ Who can go to this event? Anybody! We're especially encouraging high school students in the area to participate in this event and get the opportunity to experience what a hackathon feels like. However, we ask that all participants under the age of 18 fill out a signed parental consent form. Do I need to know how to code? No you don't! Hackathons can be great learning experiences to help develop your skills. Connect with your peers, bring along a friend with experience, or lurk on the internet for help! Furthermore, developing and delivering a product isn't just about coding, it's just as much about design and marketing. What should I bring to the event? Anything you think will help. Usually this means at the very least a laptop, but you could also bring in anything from VR headsets to the Raspberry Pi. Use your imagination! We'll also be selling some goodies at the event, so bring some money just in case you see something you like. Also, it's San Francisco, so if at any time you decide to go look around the city and find something you like you'll be prepared. :) How big should teams be? Can I hack alone? The teams should be composed of no more than 4 members, as efficiency gets quickly reduced when too many people are working on the same project. While you can hack alone, we highly recommend that you hack with a team as it is a crucial aspect of any industry-level projects (and it's also more fun!). How do I get there? Coder Con will be hosted at Heroku Headquarters. We recommend you either take Uber or BART to get to the location. The nearest BART station is about a 15 minute walk from Heroku, so make sure you wear something comfortable.

Join the My Brother's Keeper Hackathon during TEQWeek focused on lifting the life outcomes of young men of color. The event is of course open to every young person or mentor of any color and you don't have to know how to code to be a part of this experience. Come and create an app or website that solves a problem that you care about!

Qeyno Labs is launching 3rd for Black Male Achievement Hackathon with their mission is to transform children's lives and empower them through education, social innovation, and technology. A majority of youth participants, will include male Black, Latino, Native-American and under-represented Asian and Pacific Islanders and will be inclusive of transgender youth, women, and girls. They will spend three days on teams working alongside adult professionals supporting them as they build websites and mobile apps that will positively impact their community and improve their life outcomes. My Sister's Keeper Initiative (MSK) will let young women attending the majority-male hackathon have encouraging and supportive mentors through to be build apps that they feel will improve the life outcomes of young men of color, but through their genius, their leadership, and their designs.

The Apps4Change Demo Breakfast will let developers share their prototypes and apps with experts who can provide useful feedback from direct experiences in the sector. The goal is to create tools and apps that make the world a better place. It should be an inspiring, fun, and informative conversation that will influence community-relevant tool development. Meet and learn from tech developers, nonprofits, influencers, product designers, and civic leaders who will offer guidance and feedback and leave the event with valuable skills to develop products that will shape tomorrow's technology landscape.
