Does your child like playing video games? Ever wish they could use that energy to learn coding too? Come join us for a three hour hackathon where we will learn how to make a game using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
In the hackathon, we'll spend some time covering what coding is, why it's useful to know, and a hands-on coding lesson. Then, participants will form groups and work on a coding project that involves creating a Mario like game. At the end, groups will present their work in front of everyone. The top team will win a prize.
This event is targeted towards kids aged 9 to 16. No prior programming knowledge is needed. Participants must bring a laptop.

Youth Code Camp is a summer and afterschool coding camp for gifted kids taught by professional engineers. Participants will have a chance to collaborate for a 90-minute session to help generate innovative solutions for 5 selected Nonprofit Partners. This is an exciting time for Members and guest thought partners to contribute their time and talent to a local organization and make a difference in just one night!
Participants will hear from our Nonprofit Partners about a challenge or opportunity they have and then select a “working session” to participate in for the evening. At the conclusion of the event, you will hear demo-style wrap-ups from each ideation working group.
Who Should Volunteer
Volunteers coming to Idea Lab don't need any special skills! We are looking for thoughtful, strategic, empathetic professionals from all backgrounds willing to spend an evening collaborating with Bay Area social impact leaders.
How We Select Nonprofit Participants
An organization must be invited to participate. Full Circle Fund will be accepting nominations from a handful of strategic partners for strong candidates for Idea Lab. The team will further vet those nominated organizations and select 5 to engage at Idea Lab.

| About Your Instructor:
Elliot Friedman has been involved in cryptocurrencies since 2014 when he first became aware of this new asset class. Elliot is very excited about the potential for blockchain technology and the industries it can disrupt. He has a background in the C Programming Language that makes learning new blockchain frameworks easy. He is specifically interested in smart contracts, and privacy oriented cryptocurrencies as he believes corporations should not get to mine and collect consumer’s financial data. He has built blockchains in C, Python, and Javascript. He is currently reviewing source code from a new DAG that allows users to create smart contracts on top of a private chain.
| When does the class meet?
This course runs for 3 weekend sessions, Saturday - Sunday, from 10 AM - 5 PM. There will be a 1 hour break for lunch. There will be additional resources and activities to complete between sessions.
Following the course, you will be entered into The DEN's Alumni Network. This exclusive program grants you access to active Blockchain projects being built out by our newly certified Blockchain Developers. Entrepreneurs in our community will provide you with additional experience you can leverage in your job search.
