The Words Liive Reading Hackathon Tour - Prince George's County, MD
08 Feb - 08:30 AM
Hyattsville, United States
The Words Liive 'Reading Hackathon' is designed to optimize student andteacher participation in co-creating the reading and writing curriculum forthe students. Via the unique ability Words Liive has to integrate student preference via music and contemporary culturally relevant books, we will successfully enable teachers' ability to respond to their students' cultural interests. Additionally, we'll systemically integrate students' music and reading interests into the curriculum. The 'Reading Hackathon' Tour event is intended to occur each week duringBlack History Month 2019 in target markets of DC/Maryland, Chicago, LA,and Atlanta (respectively for each week in Feb.)
The structure of the Reading Hakcathon program is designed to 'hack' the 2nd half of the school year's reading curriculum with music and contemporary novels. We gather students and teachers in groups with our team members to identify the text passages from music and contemporary books that match the teacher's learning objectives for the year. The students have to read, discuss, and argue for adding the new texts they discover (including the songs lyrics) that match the learning objectives from excerpts of their reading lists in order to complete the competition. The team with the most accurate matches will Win! The total output of the program is the live updating of our app's database with the schools' reading curriculum content and the newly matched music. The program, thereby, allows teachers and students to develop a customized content experience on the Words Liive app that will facilitate lessons for the remainder of the school year in their English and Social Studies/ Civics classes.
*SPECIAL GUESTS ATTENDING INCLUDE MAJOR MUSIC ARTIST AND NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED CONTEMPORARY AUTHORS!

ProducHack Blockchain Hackathon 1
Ideas are free, everyone has them… only a few turn their ideas to products.
Creating products like anything else, takes practice, practice, practice
That’s what Hackathons are for, practice turning your idea into a product and possibly create the next mega billion dollar startup in the process.
Hackathons help you clear the fluff and narrow your idea down to its most simple version, one that can be created over a weekend by yourself as a single coder or as a team.
You get the amazing feeling of knowing you brought your idea to life and more importantly, you won some cash, meet some great people and enhanced your entrepreneurship while doing so.
ProducHack is a new hackathon events series that aims to bring the spirit of San Francisco to the DMV. Win awesome prizes including cash, bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, meet other developers, entrepreneurs, designers and idea generators, eat good food and most importantly have fun.
While this is titled as a blockchain hackathon, not all products have to be blockchain focused. In fact, there will be entrepreneurs in attendance who are looking to get an app or website built for their business or idea. You can compete just for the prize individual business and entrepreneurs are offering, or for the main prize with your blockchain product.
