This is a 3-day workshop where you all about Big Data with a specific focus on Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL and Cassandra. The workshop is targeted for a small focused group of attendees with more than 70% hands on lab. You will not only learn the technology but also get familiarized with industry specific applications. Apps for Ag is a series of agriculture focused hackathons mixing software development with commercial farming in order to develop useful technology to address the needs of today’s grower. The events will treat agricultural production areas in California and beyond welcoming developers with diverse backgrounds, levels of experience and specialties. This Hackathon will focus on coding and programming for youth.  Teaching middle schoolers the exciting parts of modern web app development, using emerging industry standard tools like jQuery, PhoneGap, Node. Kids who have an interest in Minecraft will also enjoy learning about how they can use code to generate the beginnings of interactive functions on-screen in a browser based group of tasks and learn about modern web app development focused on HTML5 and JavaScript.

Rep. Swalwell, in coordination with knodemy, a mentor-based coding academy, is hosting the Congressional App Challenge for students of all coding experience levels to join and learn about Java programming and other skills for developing apps in the Android environment. A winning app will be selected at the CA-15 Hackathon and displayed in the United States Capitol and on the U.S House of Representatives website and the individual or group winner will be offered a summer internship by knodemy.
