Fintech Week Silicon Valley is a series of events that celebrate Fintech Innovation and Silicon Valley's disproportionate role in changing the way financial services serve people.
It was launched in London in 2014 and now they are bringing the event to Silicon Valley where several events will run during Fintech Week.
Though 2017 marks the first Fintech Week in Silicon Valley, it's not the first event in the area. In 2016, they ran Blockchain San Francisco. Silicon Valley is the 4th location of Fintech Week. Other cities include London, Tel Aviv, Chicago (New York will be the 5th). The event brings together senior figures in finance, tech, government, venture capital and start-ups into a room and lets the magic happen. Conferences, meetups, workshops, a hackathon and an eexhibition all make up Fintech Week.
WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT.
FAST PACED: They keep the talks short/interesting & networking long. Panels last 30 minutes, keynotes 20, and demo/intros 10. Plenty of networking time is built into each day. This is not a traditional corporate event.
ECOSYSTEM: The people in the room are quality people. They take an ecosystem approach, which means they actively attract innovators, large firms, VCs, academics, government officials, press & start-ups. Having all the right people in the room makes for interesting chemistry.
NO HARD SELL ON STAGE: They create an environment that's great for making connections, not sales pitches. They have no problem with selling. They just want you to sell more & prefer that it happens organically through networking.
