This is a hackathon where teams of designers, developers, tinkerers and thinkers are invited to get together and build something from start to finish in just 24 hours. You are free to create any technology you like including apps, software or physical products. At the end of the weekend, teams will be asked to pitch their ideas and completed products to a panel of notable judges. There will be a cash prize for overall winner.

It’s back, bigger & better than ever: The 2016 Tanda Hackathon! This year we’re doing things a bit differently, and co-inciding the hackathon with the launch of our official Tanda API. As always, you’ll also get a heap of data to play with. So get together as a team and build something cool - there will be prizes for the best project, and we’ll be featuring projects that use the API on the add-ons directory on our site. The lucrative Tanda Selfie Competition will also be back. Bring your blue steel. Your ticket gets you free food, drinks, and a place to work for the entire event. All you need is a laptop charger. About a week before... we'll have an info night where we step you through the API and answer any questions you might have. Friday 22 April 6:00 - Registration & beers. Arrive at Tanda HQ and get checked in. We’ll have a keg and plenty of food. 7:00 - Welcome. We’ll brief you on what the next 24 hours holds, and introduce judges and mentors there to help out. 7:30 - Team forming. Pitch your idea, form into teams, and start hacking. Saturday 23 April 8:30 - Doors open. Get some work done before brekky. 9:00 - Start the day right with a filling continental breakfast. 12:30 - Lunch is on us. Get keen, get fed. 6:00 - Presentations and judging. Dinner, as usual, is on us. 7:00 - Awards and beers. 9:00 - Go home... or to a pub across the road.     This 54-hour Hackathon will give early career exposure and cross-disciplinary design experiences to ICT, Design, Business and Health students, informed and shaped by experienced clinicians, consumers and carers on contemporary healthcare issues. The challenge will be to design 1st generation concepts and technical prototypes to address a healthcare problem with targeted use of contemporary technology. Participants will develop a strong working understanding of the challenges, constraints and possibilities in an intensive crucible of health and tech curiosity.

    In an era of Connectedness, we still face rising tides of loneliness, need for authentic connection through our life course and the challenge of preserving vitality. Clinicians, Carers, Consumers and Policymakers are navigating their way through the maze of technology changes + challenges, but need help sorting signal from noise, fact from fiction, progression from stasis and decay. Our Hackathon experience at the University of Newcastle will give early career exposure and cross-disciplinary design experiences to ICT, Design, Business and Health students, informed and shaped by experienced clinicians, consumers and carers on contemporary healthcare issues. Their challenge, over 54hrs, will be to design + develop 1st generation technical prototypes to address a healthcare problem with targeted use of contemporary technology. In doing so, our event attendees will develop a strong working understanding of the challenges, constraints and possibilities in an intensive crucible of health+tech curiosity. Let's work together to see what can be cooked up with the right ingredients of our 5CFocus: Care, Clinical Skills+Experience, Connectedness, Creativity and Cutting Edge technology. Our event winners will be eligible for a range of cash and in-kind incentives from local companies and Sydney technology incubators.     WIRED Monash and UNIHACK are hosting another hackathon. The UNIHACK Mini is a hackathon targeted for first-time hackers, and is only open to Monash University students, including students from Caulfield, Berwick, Parkville and Peninsula, to practice their coding skills while being mentored by the best of the best. Teams of four students will have 27 hours to create a prototype of their idea, and get feedback from mentors before pitching them to a panel of judges. Coders, designers, thinkers regardless of the skill level, come and participate in UNIHACK Mini!
