    Can you build something awesome in 24 hours? UNIHACK, the Imagination Hackathon, brings the most talented programmers, designers, thinkers and creators in one location to build something awesome. Teams of up to 6 students have 24 hours to design and build their idea. It can be anything - a website, a mobile app, a game, an IoT-connected device, or even something hardware related.       Learning Experience of the Future Hackathon

      How might we design a technological solution to enhance learning and improve the user experience?  Join us on this 2.5 day Hackathon and help us to create a genuine solution to a variety of educational problems using technology. This event is for UNSW staff, students and Alumni. This question speaks to the problem of applying technology to a general educational context. How can these technologies be applied in this educational context? The problems we are trying to solve are in the area of marking formative assessment and giving feedback, giving the students a fairer learning experience, giving students the ability to extend their learning or consolidate their learning, giving students and teachers the ability to analyse how they are learning and then giving them suggestions as to how they can improve their performance, helping second language learners to acquire vocabulary and language instruction while learning and saving teachers’ time. Technology has been used to personalise the learning experience, build analytics into learning, using the computer as a tutor, or chatbots that learn from interactions and build materials around those interactions, help us to push this interaction further to so technology can enabled the greatest adult learning experience ever. We’re looking for awesome student innovators (like you!) to join our hack and redesign the future of education as we know it and be involved in a vibrant event that will see great minds come together to innovate and create in the area of applying technology in an educational context.             Activator Hackathon – Train the Trainer

            The Train the Trainer event will run over 2 x 4-hour sessions. The purpose is to equip staff with an understanding of how to run an effective Hackathon or Innovation Challenge. It will be an experiential event which provides participants with the chance to work in teams to design their own Hackathon as well as give and receive feedback from their peers. There will also be involvement from RMIT University experts including: Dr Reza Mohammed - Manager, Program Development - Research and Innovation Rebecca Taube - Senior Legal Counsel Leonie Russell - Senior Advisor, Learning and Teaching Participants who attend the program will receive editable templates for slides, emails and legal contracts. Ongoing support (approx. 2 x coaching sessions) will be provided by RMIT Activator staff. Access to the RMIT Activator Sandbox community will be made available to all participants as a prize which can be offered for the winning teams of any Hackathons hosted. For the full experience, it is important that you register for both days. Please note, this workshop is for RMIT staff only. Wikipedia is one of the most wide-reaching and accessible sources of public knowledge, and this gender disparity greatly impacts the nature of information shared.  Join us for a day-long program of floor talks, panel discussions, and a Wikipedia hackathon.  Join our mailing list to receive the full program mid-February.                 Arduino Hackathon

                Robogals Brisbane, UQ Robotics, and the Robotics Playground have teamed up to develop an Arduino and robotics hackathon. The alliance will be running a 2-day hackathon in March that will consist of programming Arduino to interact with a variety of sensors and actuators, in an effort to create an Arduino workshop for school students. The theme for this hackathon is Transport! Don't have experience in Arduino? No worries, we will be running a variety of training workshops in Arduino and Electronics.  Come along if you would like to: Win one of several prizes awarded for most innovative design Gain exposure to the up-and-coming startup Robotics Playground Collaborate with some of the biggest UQ clubs and societies Gain experience in some essential knowledge in the field of robotics If you can bring an Arduino, please do so. If you have a passion for innovation, we want you. NRMA Insurance Broncos and Advancing Regional Innovation Program (ARIP), in partnership with Ipswich City Council invite you to participate in #BroncosHack - the inaugural Broncos hackathon. The winners of #BroncosHack will recieve an Open Air Box for 10-people at the Broncos v Dragons Thursday Night clash on Thursday 28th March. The Broncos will also put $500 towards the catering on the night, all other costs are the responsibility of the box holder.The value of this prize is in excess of $2,500! About #BroncosHack To be held at Fire Station 101 over a weekend from Friday 8 – Sunday 10 March 2019, #BroncosHack is a collaborative competition that will bring together individuals with a range of relevant talents to discuss, brainstorm, and create innovative solutions to increase fan engagement. Innovation shapes the behaviour and demands of sports fans and the Brisbane Broncos want to proactively look at how they can support and improve their fan experience.Note - This event is 18+ only Everything you will need on the day will be provided to you. This includes briefing notes, an inspiring workspace, WiFi, VR device, meals and beverages to keep you fuelled. Teams will receive mentoring from industry, business and tech experts to help develop their ideas, business models and pitches.                     Brisbane Hardware Startup Weekend

                    The Hardware Startup Weekend is a 54-hour event where developers, designers, marketers, product managers and startup enthusiasts come together to share ideas, form teams, build products and launch startups. The unique aspect of this event is giving participants the opportunity to engage with a wide variety of cutting edge prototyping technologies to be able to develop physical products with 54-hours. The event will kick off with a networking session followed by a pitching session, a popular voting session and a team creation session, all of which will take place on a Friday afternoon. The assembled teams will then have until Sunday afternoon to research, validate and prototype their ideas before pitching them in front of a panel of judges. During the weekend, a range of mentors will be available to provide ongoing advice and assistance to the teams. Following the final pitches, the best teams will be presented with awards and prizes. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, develop ideas and learn about the startup ecosystem!
