Magnet Forensics Hackathon

The Magnet Forensics team will be on hand to support you. Coding skills are not required to participate in this event. Bring your problem solving skills and a laptop.     We will be working on the 2018 Yelp challange as a team!   https://www.yelp.co.uk/dataset/challenge This is an advanced workshop for machine learners who already have exprience with basics: Python 3.x installed Familiarity with Pandas and Numpy Familiarity with neural networks  What you can expect to learn: Natural Language Processing techniques Convolutional/Recurrent neural network models Keras/Pytorch/Tensorflow The goal of this workshop will be to gather intermediated/advanced machine learners together to work on a larger project which may extend for several weeks and depending on interest, may include more hackathon-esque sessions.  We'll be supplying all attendees with further information about what you need to bring as we near the date.  For those interested in catching up, we have collected some great CNN and RNN intro videos which we'll send out to everyone before the event.         Food for Thought Policy Hackathon

        Join us for the Policy innovation initiative (School of Public Policy & Governance)'s annual hackathon. Our "Food for Thought" hackathon will explore and pose solutions to some of the most difficult food security issues in an urban setting. It will be an opportunity to apply design thinking, create impact creatively, learn, and connect with multi-disciplinary experts. The hackathon will focus on three key issues: Institutional Food Procurement: How might we encourage healthy and sustainable food procurement in public institutions? Food Literacy: How might we strengthen food literacy for at-risk populations in urban centers? Home-based Food Businesses: How might we support urban home-based food businesses? Participants will tackle the challenges in teams composed of diverse skills and experiences, and will be joined by our Keynote Speaker Lori Stahlbrand (Coordinator, Toronto Food Policy Council) and Challenge Leaders, Adeline Cohen (OpenLab, Urban Farm Project, UHN), Reg Noble (Centre for Studies in Food Security, Ryerson University), and Cassandra Gentile (Director, Food Innovation Hub) to provide guidance during the hackathon. The hackathon is open to all graduate students, including public policy, urban planning, public health, as well as public servants and those passionate to make changes through policy. Outside of his professional efforts, Kai is an avid soccer player and a perpetual enthusiast in innovation. Greg Markou Greg is Partner and System Architect at ChainSafe. Motivated by a desire for consistent improvement, Greg strives to learn as much as possible in developing as an open-minded Innovator, and bringing Ideas from paper to tangible products. Daniel Fuke Daniel is a Partner in Fasken’s Securities and Mergers & Acquisitions group and also advises clients in the investment funds and blockchain industries. In his practice, Daniel frequently advises public and private entities on equity and debt financings, share and asset purchase transactions, investment fund formations and initial coin offerings. Tian Zhao The name’s Tian and blockchain + product (UX/UI) design + social innovation/impact is my game. My foray into the realm of blockchain began when I met Vitalik Buterin in 2015 in Waterloo followed by befriending several industry leaders within the space such as William Mougayar as well as having worked at a few blockchain companies such as Cryptiv. I’m currently working at Maropost where I’m building out their design system but on the side I’m working with a blockchain-based social enterprise called Raise and will be teaching a course on product design + blockchain at The Blockchain Hub. Outside of work I love to perform by singing and playing the piano; I was the founder of UofT-choir Tales of Harmonia, play video games, hang out with friends, and write on Medium; I was recently a freelancer writer at Coinsquare. I also love traveling with a purpose - I've been to Silicon Valley and New York City several times for invite-only hackathons and conferences, as well as to the Bahamas for a week-long entrepreneurship competition called Starter Island, and I was recently in Munich, Germany for a 3-month experiential learning program called the Digital Product School all about agile, lean, and design-thinking.

                  BlockHacks is a blockchain hackathon for entrepreneurs, enthusiasts, designers and developers. The hackathon will take place over a 24-hour period and will include workshops by blockchain industry professionals. The focus is on inspiring the next generation of blockchain entrepreneurs to build decentralized applications, contribute to code at the infrastructure level and create cool new ways to introduce people to blockchains and digital currency. His journey into Blockchain began as an early adopter of Bitcoin in 2012 and as an Ethereum Developer in 2015. As an instructor at BlockchainHub, an innovation centre based out of York University; Stu has taught on multiple topics including ethereum and solidity development to some of Canada’s largest consulting firms. Stu has led and executed projects at some of the most innovative emerging projects in the Blockchain space as the Chief Technical Officer of ChainSafe Systems. Priom Chowdhury is a co-founder and Chief Security Officer of ChainSafe Systems. He first got interested in Cryptocurrency back in 2009 when Bitcoin was first initially released. Priom is a full-stack developer with a strong focus on devops and system infrastructure of ChainSafe Systems and it’s clients. You will form a team, we will then present all the teams with a challenge related to Blockchain technology.
