WHAT IS THE HACKATHON?
The hackathon is an overnight digital creativity competition, with just 16 hours to get from an idea to a prototype. At the end of the Youth Hackathon, you will pitch your app, website, or whatever you dreamed up to a panel of judges and compete for prizes! Hackathons are a great place to learn quickly and create something awesome.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
The Hackathon is completely free for all registered participants! This is thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, Ports of Jersey & Digital Jersey.
WILL THERE BE FOOD?
Absolutely! We'll make sure there is plenty of food, snacks and drinks available at no charge. Friday evening will be pizza, with a late night snack, and they'll be pastries for breakfast on Saturday. Let us know if you have allergies etc.
DO YOU HAVE A CODE OF CONDUCT?

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Bring you, your computer, computer charger, toiletries (toothbrush and toothpaste), and anything else you need for your hack. You won't be sleeping so no need for PJs and sleeping bags.
THIS IS MY FIRST HACKATHON!
You're more than welcome! We will have staff on hand to welcome you and no matter what your skill level is, you can take part and try and make something amazing.
WHAT AGE STUDENTS CAN ATTEND?
Any young person in school year's 9-13 can attend.
HOW BIG ARE TEAMS AND WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ONE?
Gather your friends, work on your own, or build a team at the event. No worries about knowing anyone beforehand. The hackathon is great for creating new connections and meeting new people from around the Island. Maximum 4 people per team.

Are you creative, imaginative and curious about the connected world? If so, join us at the DJXchange for a weekend of creating, making and pitching at our first Internet of Things creative marathon!
Participants are invited to bring their open minds to put together IoT concepts and components with other IoT-curious people and our experienced team of mentors. The weekend of the 13th to 14th October is dedicated to exploring the Internet of Things to inspire and encourage experimentation with IoT technology and – most importantly – to learn and have fun.
Whether you are an electronics expert or an idea angel, demonstrate your innovative and creative potential and you could lead the world with your next big idea.

How much does it cost?
£10 to register, you'll get it back (and more!) in what you get at the event.
Who can participate?
Over 18s – no parent of guardian needed.
Over 16s – need a letter of consent from parent or guardian – contact us to obtain a copy.
Under 16s – must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times on a 1-to-1 ratio.
Maximum team size is 6.
Who owns the output?
You do! Anything created during the event is owned by the producing individual or team.
I can’t do 44 hours!
No problem – we understand that you may have other commitments during the event and you may come and go as you please. We ask all participants to spend a minimum of 12 hours at the hackathon as you will get more out of the event by being there as much as you can.
I haven't got a team!
Never fear! There will be a series of warm-up events where you can find team members, and there will be time on Friday eveing to make sure all teams have a bit of everything, and that eveyone has a team. It doesn't matter whether your specialism is in business, technology, design, ideas... anyone with enthusiasm to make something is welcome.
Travel
We have a limited pot to offset travel costs for those traveling from abroad, please contact us to enquire about eligibility.
What to bring
- your laptop (we don't have space for desktops - sorry)
- any IoT kit you may have and want to use - **NEW** up to 40% discount at Pimoroni! Email us your order before the 29th of August to get your kit at reduced cost!
- snacks and non-alcoholic drinks (coffee, tea, water, will be provided)
- your sense of humour
Please do not bring:
- anything illegal (including controlled substances, weapons or "offensive materials" - be considerate!)
- alcohol
