Master students at Sweden's KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Kista! You're invited to participate in the Huawei Deep Learning Experience. During this 24-hour event, you'll get to create an innovative machine learning solution that can generalize and compress unlabeled information. You'll have access to over 100,000 unlabeled data and compete against all other teams to extract the most useful information. Three best teams win a trip to China and a possible internship.

The goal will be to process more than 100k unlabeled data and propose an algorithm able to generalize and compress unlabeled information. Will you be able to extract the most useful information from this data? You’ll be given access to datasets, Google cloud infrastructure, and mentoring will be provided by Huawei’s experts. The top three winners get a free trip to China! Plus a possible internship with HUAWEI!

Theme:  AI Ethics, Fairness and Privacy While AI and data science are applied to more and more areas, issues such as privacy, fairness and accountability become increasingly prominent. Of course! We believe in diverse and multidisciplinary teams. Put together your dream team and apply!   Will I be reimbursed for travel and lodging? Unfortunately we won’t be able to reimburse you for travel and lodging but we will make sure that you get all the sustenance you need throughout the whole hackathon completely free of charge! Participating teams will be notified of our recommended hotels and hostels with special rates nearby.   Are there any technical requirements? This is a "technology agnostic" hackathon and no SDKs, APIs, or data sources will be provided. The only requirement is the ability to inspect machines using nothing more than a smartphone. Any attending participant is welcome to pitch their idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams will be formed around the top ideas after voting. Food and drinks will be provided. How do I apply? - You can apply to be considered for the hackathon by clicking ‘register’ and filling out the registration form. (you will be re-directed to another site for registration) If I register, am I guaranteed entry? - No, only a limited set of teams will be able to participate in the Hackathon. Once you have registered, you will receive a personal e-mail by the organizer, latest two weeks prior to the event, to confirm your participation. Detailed schedule will be provided along with the confirmation. Can I register as an individual? - Yes. You can register as an individual, but to compete you will join a team on the day of the event. Don’t worry there will be set time to mingle and form teams in the evening of the first day. What do I bring? - Bring your own laptop, chargers, adapters and anything else you want to use. We will provide with open source API links, Wi-Fi and power sockets. Do I need to work in the Financial Services or Banking industry? - No, we encourage people outside of the industry to bring your ideas and skills. A different mix of people is a great recipe for innovation. Also there will be a number of experts on site to help you understand some of the issues facing the industry today and you can to bounce ideas off of them. What kind of solution can I come up with? - Anything you want! We have kept the topic relatively broad to try and allow participants to come with ideas that are as disruptive and innovative as possible.

Baltathon is a series of free hackathons taking place within the BatlicMuseums: Love IT!. From warm-up till the final day of hackathon you are asked to develop your idea and code. During final day on 25th September, you will get time to finalize your work, create a final presentation, talk to museum’s workers and IT experts from different companies and present your idea.
