#ACTMedia : le hackathon du journalisme à l'ère du digital Les thèmes médias, démocratie, digitalisation vous intéressent et vous avez envie de proposer, élaborer et partager des solutions originales, pratiques et concrètes sur ces sujets ? #ACTMedia est fait pour vous ! Etudiants, journalistes, professionnels des médias, citoyens, innovateurs...saisissez l'opportunité de passer des paroles aux actes !  Venez participer à une journée de hackathon unique organisé par la Ville de Genève le 14 Septembre, de 9h à 18h, au Musée d'Ethnographie de Genève. Cet événement est co-organisé par la Ville de Genève et Open Geneva, l'association de soutien à l'innovation ouverte à Genève. Chacun des participants rejoindra l'équipe du défi de son choix parmi les 5 suivants :  * DEFI 1 : Open source : une solution au service des médias ? * DEFI 2 : "Consommation numérique" : quels enjeux pour la démocratie ? * DEFI 3 : La philanthropie : nouvelle source de financement des médias ? * DEFI 4 : Mutualisation des coûts et des technologies : quelles opportunités pour servir le journalisme ? * DEFI 5 : Mission de service public du journalisme : quels moyens pour garantir sa qualité ? Des professionnels liés aux thématiques porteront ces défis et guideront les participants dans leur réfléxion. A la fin du hackathon, les participants présenteront leur projet devant Monsieur Sami Kanaan, Maire de la Ville de Genève. Tout au long de la journée, ils auront la possibilité de nourrir leurs travaux en participant librement aux différentes conférences et tables rondes qui se tiendront durant l'évènement #ACTMedia. Des informations sur le contenu de ces dernières vous seront envoyées très prochainement. Finding «Truth WithIn StatisTics» (#TWIST2018) TWIST, the first Swiss Statistics Hackathon. TWIST will be held on August 25th and 26th at the University of Zurich. Developers, statisticans, designers, journalists, hackers and citizens of all backgrounds will be working with open data on the subject of statistics and  emotions, evidence based decision making and fake news. It is the Pre-Event of the Swiss Statistical Meeting 2018 in Zurich. Participation is free of charge. The Hackdays start on Saturday, August 25th, at 9 o’clock  The Hackdays end with final presentations on August 28th at 16 o’clock. Hacking is creative problem solving. It does not have to involve technology. It's very beginner friendly. But I'm really a complete beginner. Can I still come? Of course! It is totally free. What is LoRaWAN? It's a wireless technology, much like your regular WiFi, but it's ideal for IoT and battery powered sensors because it has a huge range. Head over to The Things Network website, and check out the LEARN section and the forum. What is civic tech? It is technology that enables citizen engagement. It means citizens building infrastructure for their city, instead of governments building it. That's what The Things Network communities are doing with LoRaWAN in multiple cities of the world, among them, here in Zurich we are part of a community that has already deployed a LoRaWAN network in the city. What hardware will be available to use? We will provide a selection of microcontrollers, sensors and components that we believe are suitable for the challenges. Do we get to keep the provided hardware? Yes. What should I bring to the event? Bring your laptop and your ideas on how to improve your city! Feel free to bring your own hardware (microcontroller, sensors, etc), designs, enclosures, or whatever to help you create a solution for a challenge. The Roskilde Festival, a yearly rock festival in Denmark, has lots of similarities with large cities where people get together for a bit of fun, sleep, eat ... and drink. Crowd managers are equipped with years of experience running festivals like this and they have established a good gut feeling on the behavior of people in crowds and when/where it gets too busy. IBM and the Copenhagen Business School have run yearly hackathons around the festival to validate how data and analytics can help the organization to be more efficient and effective in the future.
