In this short event, we’ll be examining what it is possible to do with Wikidata - using Welsh political data as a springboard. Whether you are interested in building an application, doing some analysis or just experimenting this is for you. The workshop will be divided into two parts: A brief introduction to Wikidata: cool tools and tricks for using it A hackathon to use, visualise and improve the data Join us if you’re interested in learning some new tricks or to find ways to understand how Wikidata can be useful to your work or your organisation. If you’re interested in political data, or have experience in visualising or building tools to work with data, come along! Instructions for attendees If you haven’t registered for Wikipedia or another Wikimedia project, please do so in advance – it takes only a few minutes and it’s completely free! At our December meetup we're inviting the groups back to show some of the work that they did, and show how it's been developed over the last two months. During the evening we'll be seeing a VR project built for Christians Against Poverty, an iOS app showing the fostering and adoption journey built for Home for Good, a web app which could transform how musicians can lead worship during church service and more… We'll also have some time to discuss and pray about what happens next for Kingdom Code as we head into 2018.

Design a Career You Love: 1 Day Hackathon
              02 Dec - 09:30 AM
              London, United Kingdom
DESCRIPTION Join us for this intensive 1 day hackathon to learn how to take control of your career & find ways of doing work that you will love. More importantly it will push you to launch your first career prototype to test out a new path. You know you want to do something different... ...but you're not sure what that something is. Maybe it's a different company. Maybe it's a new career. Maybe you want to go on a big adventure or start your business. But you're not sure where to start. You’re not sure where to turn and you don’t know what your options are. And... there's another problem. Leaving a safe job is scary. Every time you think about making a big change in your work, career & life, the little voices in your head chime in: You're too young (or too old.) You don't have the time (or the money, or the knowledge, or the skills). What if you fail? What if it all ends up being a massive mistake? You're ready to give up on your search to do work you love before you even get started. You're not alone. We have spent the past five years gathering knowledge from over 250,000 unfulfilled professionals on why current career change methods aren’t working. We’ve discovered that the biggest problems come when people expect a magic-bullet solution or when they expect a career coach to give them an answer to a problem that they can’t even really define. We work with only the best teachers, career coaches & thought-leaders. We apply tried & tested lessons from the career coaches, career change psychologists, and successful career changers to save you from wasting time and money on those who don't deliver the most effective & practical advice. We teach the same practical frameworks and methods used by hundreds of Escape the City members to escape unfulfilling jobs and do work they love. Here's what you can expect: This hackathon will help you understand how to take control of your career and steer it in directions that will bring you more autonomy, meaning, and purpose. It’s about personal fulfillment, it’s about making active choices for yourself, and it’s about owning your definition of success. You'll be able to play and build something without any pressure of it being the 'one'. We'll explore  the new world of work and freelance careers. This one-day Escape School Hackathon is a chance to co-create, and 'build' a first version of a career prototype with new friends. It will help you sharpen your escape tools, increase your confidence in finding a new direction, and build new connections. What does the hackathon consist of? We will provide you with tools, ideas and case studies to help you overcome your fears and start moving forwards with purpose. The hackathon covers the following: What isn't working for me in my career? What type of life do I want to lead? How do I work out what I really want to do? How do I overcome my fears? How do I come up with a plan that excites me? What are my more entrepreneurial options? What strategies will help me to build my dream job? How do I create opportunities on my own terms? You will leave this hackathon inspired to make change happen, with the beginnings of a plan, a commitment to action, a long list of new ideas, and have launched your first career prototype to get started. This workshop is taught by: SKYE ROBERTSON Head of the Escape School - Skye has helped thousands of people escape their jobs and start new careers and businesses through Escape the City, Startup Britain, and Young Enterprise. Her superpowers include: helping people turn ideas into actual businesses, standing out from the crowd in the job market, and hacking online projects together in a very short amount of time. This workshop is limited to 40 places. Secure your ticket now to get closer to changing your career.
