        #ABHackathon
        01 Sep - 10:00 AM
        Dunoon, United Kingdom
Argyll and Bute’s very own technology hackathon-style event is happening in Dunoon this Autumn and we want 11-16 year olds with a passion for coding, a love of anything tech or who are ready to have some fun and play with some cool kit! As part of the Year of Young People 2018 we wanted to put on an event for young people to try out some new technology, attend workshops with tutors from around the country and meet other young people with similar interests, all within Argyll and Bute. Ever wondered how cyber criminals manage to hack into systems and cause huge problems for companies? Well at #ABHackathon you will have the chance to rob a fictional bank, crack customers’ passwords and compete with others to steal as much fake money as you can! The event will be a single day packed with exciting workshops, on 1st September 2018 from 10am to 4pm at Dunoon Youth Centre - doors open from 9:30. It is open to any 11-16 year olds regardless of your computing expertise - there will be something new and fun for everyone; if you never coded before or even if you’re a master hacker! To make it even better, the event is completely free to attend and we will arrange free transport to and from the event on the day if required - transport will be coordinated by Youth Services for young people travelling from Argyll & Bute who don't live locally to Dunoon. Also, the most important thing at any hackathon, there will be free food!
          Missing Maps Hackathon at Imperial
          28 Aug - 05:30 PM
          London, United Kingdom
The Missing Maps project puts the most vulnerable places in the developing world on the map!  The most vulnerable places in the developing world are not mapped which means that first responders lack the information to make valuable decisions regarding relief efforts. The aim of the project is to map the most crisis-prone parts of the developing world. With your help, we can directly improve the lives of some of the planet’s most vulnerable people. By contributing to this project, volunteers, like yourself, are able to facilitate the work of international and local NGOs who can use the data to better respond to crises. Both beginners and experienced mappers are welcome to join this mapathon! Interested in learning more whilst enjoying free Pizza? Come along to our third session on Tuesday 28th August at 5:30PM.
