    WHAT IS A HACKATHON?

    A hackathon is an event where hardware and software developers collaborate intensively on software projects related to the internet of things. Hackathons are at least a few days - or over a weekend.

    053 HACK OVERVIEW

    The 053 Hackathon (053HACK) is a local hackathon aimed at digitalising Kimberley and turning it into a smart competitive modern city and in the process stimulate and develop the local digital economy through commercialisation of digital innovative solutions.

    The 2nd annual 053 hackathon is championed and hosted by local tech entrepreneurs and it envisaged to attract software developers, computer programmers, data scientist, graphic designers, web developers and technologist within and around the city of Kimberley. The 053 Hack also aims to develop digital innovative solutions to make the city more productive and give it a technological competitive advantage and edge.

    The 053 Hackathon well also serve as a networking platform that will build and grow the local hack community and work collectively in collaborations and partnerships to develop identified projects.

    OBJECTIVES

    • To develop digital solutions that can contribute to transforming Kimberley into a modern smart city.

    • To promote local digital innovation and use.

    • To provide an enabling and supportive learning environment.

    •  To nature and develop local digital innovation.
