2016 Open edX Conference

This year, we’ll be moving from the bucolic New England autumn to a beautiful Bay Area summer for 2016’s conference, Open edX: Education Shared.

Join us June 14th to 17th to share, learn, discuss, innovate and celebrate all things Open edX! 

Agenda

• June 14th & 15th: Keynotes, 40 minute talks and panels, and lightning talks
• June 16th: Hands-on tutorials and workshops, hackathon kickoff
• June 17th: Hackathon continues and hackathon presentations

Location

Stanford has been a supporter of the Open edX initiative since day zero. The Stanford team was instrumental in the open-source release of the edX platform, and continues to contribute their code, effort, and enthusiasm to the project.

Home to thousands of success stories in technological innovation, the Bay Area embodies the spirit that drives edX and the Open edX community to achieve great new things. Stanford University’s campus is in Stanford, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, almost equidistant between two major airports: just over 25 miles south of San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and just under 25 miles north of Mineta San José International Airport (SJC).

Stanford is easily accessible by Caltrain, part of the Bay Area public transportation network, using a connector service from either airport (SFO to BART to Caltrain, or SJC to VTA Flyer to Caltrain).

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Sheraton Palo Alto for a special discounted conference rate. There are a large number of other accomodation options in the Stanford area as well.

Why make the move from October to June? This time of year allows for more space and flexibility on campus. We also hope that moving to the summer means more of our academic community will have time to attend.
