2018 Normalcy Conference

Please join us for the third annual youth-led Normalcy Conference!

This year's keynote speaker is Think of Us founder Sixto Cancel. Sixto is a former foster youth who founded Think of Us to leverage technology to improve the lives of foster youth. Sixto led the design and execution of the first ever White House foster care and Technology Hackathon. Sixto is also a Young Fellow with Jim Casey Youth Opporutnities. Check out this interview with Sixto!

The Normalcy Conference is an opportunity for foster youth around the state of Indiana to come together to learn more about resources for foster youth and lend their voices and lived experiences to improving the foster care system. Topics include: funding for college, accessing healthcare and Medicaid benefits, and a panel around building strong youth/adult partnerships.

The conference will begin at 9am with Conference Registration and Check In with a continental breakfast. Content will begin at 10am.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

All current and former foster youth between ages 14 & 26 are invited to attend.

What are my housing options if I am coming from a city outside of Indianapolis? 

The conference sessions will start at 10AM and end at 4PM to accomodate those who are driving from different parts of the state and their travel time. 

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We are asking providers to coordinate transportation for youth to and from the conference. There is free parking located on-site at the hotel's parking garage, directly to the left of the hotel. Once you arrive at the hotel, all sessions and activities will take place on site, so no further transportation will be needed. 

Is there a registration deadline?

Please register for the conference by Tuesday, May 22nd.
