3rd Annual Congressional App Challenge: CA-15 Hackathon
Rep. Swalwell, in coordination with Workday and knodemy, a mentor-based coding academy, will host the 3rd annual Congressional App Challenge in California's 15th Congressional District.
Students of all coding experience levels are welcome to join this two day hackathon at Workday's Pleasanton Headquarters – November 12th, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and November 13th, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM - including workshops to teach students Java programming and other skills for developing apps on the Android environment.
A winning app will be selected at the CA-15 Hackathon to be displayed in the United States Capitol Building and on the U.S House of Representatives website, which recieves 10 million unique visitors per year. Additionally, Amazon Web Services (AWS) has donated $50,000 in AWS credits, to be divided among the winning students across all participating districts.
Established in 2013, the Congressional App Challenge is a nationwide event that allows U.S. high school students to create and exhibit their software application, or “app,” on mobile, tablet, or computer devices. All eligible submissions in Rep. Swalwell's App Challenge must be developed at the CA-15 Hackathon. Students that live or attend school in the 15th Congressional District may participate individually or as members of teams determined by the organizers. The individual or group winner of the hackathon will be offered a summer internship by knodemy.
