This month, Asia Blockchain Review is launching the second meetup in Kuala Lumpur on September 20th, where we will dive headfirst into the Malaysian blockchain landscape. Alongside are our co-hosts and partners - University of Malaya, Faculty of Law and several other exciting guests such as Neuroware, BESC, Blocklime & JusTECH. Our speakers will be discussing regulatory frameworks, while exploring use cases and sharing their thoughts on the potential growth of blockchain in Malaysia.

Cris Tran is the Country Head of Infinity Blockchain Ventures (IBV) Malaysia, a dynamic consulting and development firm dedicated to providing practical blockchain solutions. He is also the QRC Hub - Director with QRC Group, the world's largest investment company working at the intersection of Blockchain and RegTech. Cris is currently managing projects and key products of QRC globally. Prior to this, Cris was the Senior Leader for Frost & Sullivan, a global consulting firm, based out in Singapore.
Cris is today one of the regions most sought-after speakers and thought leaders, wherein his expert opinions have been heard at seminars and industry conferences globally. He is also frequently featured in leading media, namely Bloomberg, Forbes, Nikkei.

Nur Husna Zakaria teaches graduate and undergraduate professional courses with a specialisation in corporate and competition law at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. Her current research with the University of Malaya Malaysian Centre of Regulatory Studies focuses on Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) in the context of regulatory requirements and compliance. She was the Director of the Malaysian Blockchain Regulatory Research Project undertaken jointly by University of Malaya and QRC plc which resulted in the issuance of a Malaysian Blockchain Regulatory Report. Her speaking engagements at blockchain events are mainly related to RegTech and the legal aspects of ICOs.
Yeap Yee LinCo-Founder & President, JusTECH
Yee Lin began looking into tech issues from a legal perspective from her first year itself where she participated in the Inaugural National Cyber Law Moot Competition. She pursued her continuous interest in tech by organizing a symposium on the impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution in her 2nd year. Now, she is spearheading Malaysia’s first student-run law-tech club in the Faculty of Law, University Malaya. Yee Lin is also very active in other university activities and she currently holds office as the treasurer of UM Law Society and also Secretary for the faculty’s Orientation Committee. As a form of leisure, she enjoys the melody and allure of orchestral music, especially the enchanting pieces of Joe Hisaishi.
Danesh AggarwalCo-Founder & Vice President, JusTECH
Danesh Aggarwal, as a first year was first exposed to legal-related tech issues when he wrote an article for the University of Malaya Law Review (UMLR) about the dangers of online-scamming, the prominence of cybercrime in our country and how our regulations are failing cybersecurity. After numerous articles for the UMLR, he decided to assist Yee Lin in the creation of JusTECH in the faculty. Beyond JusTECH, he is also serving as the Secretary of the UM Law Review. Like Yee Lin, he too, finds peace in orchestral music.

Mark Smalley is the founder of R1.my, a technology training and consultancy group, which has been working with private organizations, startups and government agencies to help implement and adopt new technologies such as NoSQL storage and distributed ledgers. Neuroware.io is the brand for R1’s blockchain and DLT products. It was first established when R1 was selected to join Batch 9 of the illustrious 500 Startups accelerator program in Silicon Valley. His more recent achievements include being featured as a DNA Digerati 50 alongside founders from Catcha & Grab. His extensive training sessions and technical workshops have been adopted by a number of large organizations such as Labuan Financial Services Authority, Hong Leong Bank Berhad, Cybersecurity Malaysia, Axiata, and Baker Hostetler in the USA.

Mr. Tan Lim Soon Fu is a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) with the Project Management Institute (PMI). He has extensive industry experience in facilities management, Internet of Things (IoT), and mobile wireless and web applications. In addition, he has over 20 years of experience in managing mobile wireless solutions and developing web applications. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He was also conferred with Executive Data Science Certification from Johns Hopkins University, USA. Currently, he serves as Chief Technology Officer for EPC Blockchain Sdn Bhd, which he also Co-founded.

Beryl started her journey as a creative designer, experienced in various of industry including university, branding firm and corporates has given her the opportunity and exposure in the industry. She took an immense interest in understanding brands and to her it is not just about creativity but brand positioning and market insights is in a greater need. This leads her into the blockchain space where the technology has fascinated many, however is struggling to deliver the message to the masses. She quickly realizes that the astounding Blockchain technology has yet to gain public approval and trust due to lack of awareness and education. As a brand lead in Blocklime, she has successfully contributed in the blockchain ecosystem by organising community events, training, and hackathons with the warm support of partners and like-minded individuals. Her vision is not adhered to Blocklime but a greater future under the blockchain’s umbrella.
