Promoting Agricultural Innovation: efficiency, resilience & wealth.
Our next Hackathon is calling you to rise to the biggest challenges facing the modern agricultural sectors and coming up with dynamic solutions to change the world!
The AgriTech Hackathon is designed to tackle the challenges facing the agricultural industry in the UK. This event will bring together a powerful mix of creative minds working toward finding the best tech solutions to propel the agricultural and eco-tourism sectors. The hackathon is also geared toward enabling conversations between the urban and rural communities.
The Challenge:
The challenges are still being developed but the broad themes include:
- Maximizing soil productivity –How can soil health be improved? How can we ensure a healthy soil structure while minimizing soil loss and maximizing nutrition?
- Improving water use efficiency – Low can water management be improved through means such as smart irrigation practices, and are there effective and sustainable means of improving soil’s ability to hold water?
- Reducing greenhouse gases – Livestock rearing is increasing to methane production. What are some ways in which we can manage methane emissions?
- Boosting biodiversity –There is increasing pressure worldwide on biodiversity from a range of sources. We need to find ways to protect important habitats and find smart ways to support biodiversity under pressure by providing targeted resources.
