Aubrey Agee's Farewell Party

Come join us in celebration and appreciation of Aubrey Agee, and his years of service to the Wayne State University community, as he departs WSU for his next venture!

Food will be served, cash bar. RSVP

Aubrey’s ties to the Wayne State University community go back to his childhood. His mother, Sally Jo Large-Agee, was a faculty member in the School of Social Work, and earned her B.S.W., M.S.W., and Educational Doctorate degree at Wayne State. Aubrey followed, receiving his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and M.B.A. from WSU. Since 2011, Aubrey has been a champion for innovation and community engagement on behalf of WSU through his administrative roles.

He served as the Senior Program Administrator for Blackstone Launchpad (2011-2016) before founding and directing Innovation Warriors (2016-2018). Under Aubrey's leadership, Innovation Warriors reached over 6,000 participants in their exploration of entrepreneurship. Aubrey personally guided 800 students, staff, faculty and alumni to generate their own business models and helped over 200 businesses launch, 140 of which are generating revenue.

Through Aubrey's implementation of Hacker Nights and the WSU Hackathon, he helped open the doors for hundreds of WSU students to learn and create new technologies together. His advocacy for technology and community brought him to join the Library System earlier this year to launch its Community Knowledge Incubator (CKI), which aims to bring all walks of knowledge together through community engagement.

As Director of the CKI, Aubrey continued his work of facilitating strong collaborations and partnerships with the campus community, as well as local and national organizations, to produce and deliver community accessible programming. In 2018, over 3,000 middle and high school students visited the Undergraduate Library to experience events like Code Detroit, Detroit's 24 Hour Hackathon (DHack), the Rebrand Cities Challenge, and most recently, the Twitter Vending Machine Challenge sponsored by CSforALL.

After years of service to Wayne State University, Aubrey will be departing WSU to continue his work fostering innovative and empowered communities in Detroit and beyond as the founding Director of Anti-Gravity, LLC.

We hope that you can join us in bidding Aubrey farewell on Wednesday, December 19th between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. at Tony V's Tavern.
