CEMEX Hackathon is an innovation focused event where you will solve a business challenge by co-creating alongside a whole bunch of like-minded people with different skills and experiences. The topic of the CEMEX hackathon is situated around the challenge that innovating at speed requires engaged employees.
Two day event full of collaboration and learning from each-other will end with the award ceremony, where the first three scored teams will share the award pool of £6,000. The winning team will receive funding for project incubation with CEMEX office space in UK. CEMEX recruiters will also attend the event, looking for potential talents to invite them to collaborate with CEMEX.

FAQ
WHEN DOES THE EVENT RUN?

Friday: registration open at 10:00am and the event starts at 11:00am sharp with working lunch while CEMEX leaders provide insights about the Hackathon. We will pause at 10:00pm and restart on Saturday morning.

Saturday: 9:00am - 4:00pm. To apply, you need to be able to participate during both days.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Ambitious, career-oriented and creative young individuals (18+) that are currently enrolled in full- or part-time study program at any university. Both, undergraduate and post-graduate, as well as executive MBA students, are welcome to attend this event.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I REGISTER?
The students who register for the CEMEX Hackathon will undergo a selection process based on the info provided during the registration. Invites with confirmations will be sent to selected participants periodically.
DO I NEED A TEAM TO REGISTER?
No. We are looking for individual participants who will be later placed in inter-disciplinary teams (4-6 members) to solve the challenge during the event. But make sure to invite your friends and colleagues to join as well. There will be plenty of networking and socialising opportunities.
DO I HAVE TO BE PROGRAMER OR DESIGNER TO TAKE PART?
No! We welcome everyone to apply to this hackathon, regardless of their skills and experience. The event is not a typical coding hackathon, but is rather oriented towards solving a business challenge. We would very kindly invite especially all business students to apply.
IS THERE A FEE TO PAY?
Zero. Registration and participation is entirely free for all students. Food, drinks and awards will be provided.
ARE THERE PRIZES?
Yes! A collection of pretty amazing prizes is waiting for the winning teams!
- First prize: 3000 GBP per team and funding for project incubation with CEMEX office space in UK
- Second prize: 2000 GBP per team
- Third prize: 1000 GBP per team
- CEMEX recruiters will be on site, scouting for talent
- All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
WHAT WILL I EAT?
We’ll provide food, drinks, snacks and a lot of coffee leaving you to concentrate on your project.
IS THIS AN OVER-NIGHT EVENT?
No. The event will run from 10am to 10pm on Friday and from 9am to 4pm on Saturday.
CEMEX will provide accommodation for selected students arriving from outside Cambridge on the night of 9th February. You will find more details about it in final confirmation email. We do not provide individual reimbursements.
DO I NEED TO ATTEND BOTH DAYS?
Yes, the participation requires your presence over the two days.
WHERE IS THE VENUE?

Laptop/mobile device with internet connectivity. This is an interactive session, so bring energy and positive thinking!
