Classified Post Hackathon March 2018

Classified Post is proud to announce the launch of their first Hackathon, a 24 hours challenge for students to build winning digital solutions for large corporates. The event is for students to turn ideas into reality and will serve as a platform for students and fresh graduates to develop their prototype, enhance their problem solving skills and to learn and meet with technology industry leaders. And at the same time for corporates to explore shining stars from the participants. Who can enter? The Contest is open to teams of 3 – 5 members, all of whom are: Hong Kong undergraduate students Graduates with maximum 2 years’ experience There is no limitation and restriction on faculty or field of studies. Participants who are creative, think without boundaries, curious and passionate are encouraged to join the competition. Why should you take part? By taking part in this competition, you will be giving the opportunity to boost the CVs, network with fellow students, meet with industry leaders and gain real-life experience of pitching ideas.  How does it work? Teams will be assigned to 2 different categories by ballot: Media and Insurance.  A contest briefing will be held on March 21, 2018 at the Classified Post Career Forum to provide background information about the companies in respective categories. The Hackathon will be held on March 24 - 25, 2018.  Rundown March 24           11:00am            Registration and teams assigned into different categories March 24           11:30am            Opening Ceremony March 24           12:00nn             Beginning of 24-hour brainstorming session March 25           12:00nn             End of brainstorming session March 25           1:00pm             First round presentation ( 3mins per team ) March 25           4:00pm             Final round presentation ( 15mins for shortlisted teams ) March 25           6:30pm             Prize Presentation Ceremony Judging Criteria There is no fixed answer to the question itself, and it will be judged by: Quality and innovative nature of the idea / demo Utility of the idea / demo Use of the sponsors technologies and tools Prize Both category will have champion, 1st runner up and 2nd running up winners. Prizes are as below  1st place HK$8,000 cash Trophy and certificate for each team member 2nd place HK$5,000 cash Certificate for each team member 3rd place HK$3,000 cash Certificate for each team member All participants Outstanding participants will be invited by participating companies to attend their internship programmes Certificate for each participants   Application deadline: March 12, 2018   Notes: 1.     All participating teams grant the organiser and supporting partners the right to use the entry work and idea submitted / presented at the event, including presentation deck and/ or any prototypes developed within the event.2.     All entry should be original work by the participants. Plagiarised or published work (including on the Internet) or work already involved in other competitions will not be accepted. 3.    Winning teams are obligated to comply with the organisers’ requests for media interviews and photo/ video shooting (if applicable).4.     The organisers and their affiliates are not responsible for, and expressly disclaim, any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this programme and/or acceptance or use of the prizes, including liability for personal injury, death, damages, or loss.5.     All matters and disputes will be subject to the final decision of the organiser.
