Code for Kenmore Hackathon
This is a call to all talented and civic-minded coders—as well as designers, project managers, and other concerned citizens!
We are offering a $500 CASH AWARD for the best team prototype/idea that answers this question: How can a city (especially a small one like Kenmore) harness and share open data to attract businesses, entrepreneurs, real estate developers, and the creative talent pool?
We will have an open data portal, along with as many relevant datasets as we can think of, set up and ready for you to play with during this 8-hour event. In addition, you can expect the following out of this hackathon event:
- Free breakfast and lunch, as well as snacks throughout the day
- Coffee (of course)
- Good feelings and collaboration!
- Networking time (pun intended): those with established careers in the software development field will be invited to attend the lunch portion and mentor teams for an hour after
- Discounted drinks and food at Kenmore's local 192 Brewing following the event (on-tap beers for $1.92 and 25% off food items!)
ABOUT KENMORE
Have you heard of us? We’re a small but growing city known for seaplanes, herons, a biking trail, and the north shore of Lake Washington—and we want to use big and open data to tell our story and attract growth!
- General: All-day ticket for those who want to compete or enjoy the whole day's activities
- Mentorship: Ticket for those with experience as professionals in the software development field who want to attend for a couple hours at lunch and provide mentoring to teams
