Code for the Kingdom HACKATHON   Transforming Lives Hackathon  Ideate. Build. Impact.  Create technology that matters. A hackathon movement to ignite the Christian passion and purpose of technologists and entrepreneurs to innovate culture shaping technologies that would reclaim our times for the Gospel. Engage, envision, challenge, and release the culture makers for sustained Kingdom impact.   --- WHAT IS IT?  Code for the Kingdom is pioneering Atlanta’s first faith-inspired hackathon this October – as part as the Global Code for the Kingdom hackathon weekend. Code for the Kingdom is an initiative of Leadership Network, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization fostering innovation by bringing talented people together to take ideas to implementation to impact. On the weekend of October 2-4, 2015, we are bringing together technologists, entrepreneurs, creative’s, businesspeople, ministry leaders, visionaries, and anyone passionate about faith and technology, to use their gifts to advance the Gospel.  The Global Hackathon will run in 14 world cities simultaneously, including Addis Ababa, Albuquerque, Atlanta, Bangalore, Guatemala City, Houston, Jakarta, Kansas City, London, Los Angeles, Nairobi, Raleigh, Seattle and Waterloo.   You will be able to work with a local team in Atlanta, or even join with teams in one or more of the participation cities.   Together our vision is to provide more opportunities for communities all over the world to participate and showcase innovation and entrepreneurship. We expect over 2,000 people to participate across the planet, and address a number of challenges aimed at helping release the oppressed, teaching God’s Word, healing the sick, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and supporting the church and the body of Christ.   WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?   We want to catalyze friendship, passion, purpose, and collaboration in technical and entrepreneurial communities. To challenge and release you to create and use 21st century technologies to serve God’s Kingdom. To create a scalable community across the world to accelerate and encourage Christian innovators.     An Atlanta judging panel will choose the award prizes to the best projects.   The 2015 program will conclude in December 2015. Every participating city will give two of their local winners to a Global Judging Panel that will decide the best projects created across the world during the Global Hackathon Weekend.   A final report will be published, summarizing key highlights and results of the 2015 Code for the Kingdom Global initiative.   WE ARE LOOKING AT   Developing solutions that utilize wearable technology to advance the gospel   Creating tools to help advance accountability in the digital age.   Reaching the digital native in the Islamic world   Use Google Cardboard in Code for the Kingdom project.   Develop technologies that encourage and inspire others to participate in joyful, Christ-centered generosity   and much more...  We will be using Indigitous.org as the place for projects, community, and collaboration.
