Cut Your Carbon Footprint - Workshop and Hackathon

Want to cut your carbon footprint and help the environment but don’t know where to start?

Want to feel empowered to make a difference?

We break down the big issues around climate change and carbon emissions into easily digestible, bite-sized chunks and guide you to find the solutions that work for you.

Carbon Footprint Workshop: 10.30 am to 1 pm on Saturday, 29 July

You’ll get a clear overview of what causes carbon emissions and climate change, the environmental impact and social cost, as well as insights into how individuals, governments and business are working to fix the problem (or not). You’ll learn about practical eco-projects and local volunteering options. By the end of the day you’ll have created your own personal, practical plan to measure and reduce your individual carbon footprint.

We’ve even teamed up with cool places like Stanford Uni so you can see how your carbon footprint measures up against other people around the world.

Carbon Footprint Hackathon: 10.30 am to 1 pm on Saturday, 5 August

You get to think laterally and come up with ideas to tackle climate change and carbon emissions. It’s a no-holds-barred innovation challenge with a human-centred design thinking approach - you’ll work in teams to come up with creative ideas that you pitch to a panel of innovators ... the best one wins a prize!

Up to the minute, live case studies of the creative ways people around the world are tackling climate change will help get your creative juices flowing.

Together, the Workshop and Hackathon make up the Carbon Footprint Think Lab. They are designed to be taken together but you can sign up for just one session if you want.

    Who is it for?

You don't need any background in science or the environment - this event is designed for anyone who would like to understand more and do their bit to help, and for everyone to learn together.
