Data For Democracy Hackathon - Boston
Calling all data scientists, engineers, designers, and anyone interested in technology for social good! Data For Democracy is hosting a nation-wide online and in-person hackathon on a number of projects related to using data for social impact.
Data for Democracy is an inclusive community for data scientists and technologists. It is a space for like-minded people to organize, to transform, to collaborate, and to support each other's projects. We help each other track down datasets, refine models, improve visualizations, team up on apps, debug code, promote work, and connect with communities who need our analysis.
There's already a number of ongoing projects being worked on by D4D volunteers that you'll be able to join in. We'll have a couple of people working on the Boston Traffic Crash Modelling project, where we use historical crash information to predict the locations of future crashes. This project is being undertaken in partnership with the City of Boston.
You can also feel free to start your own project and pitch it to others attending the event. Either way, feel free to join us for a day of doing good with technology.
