DC TUG - Hackathon

Hello members of the DC Tableau User Group!

You are invited to participate in the @Tableau #ACLEDconflictViz Hackathon in support of the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED).  ACLED collects the dates, actors, types of violence, locations, and fatalities of all reported political violence and protest events across Africa, South Asia, South East Asia and the Middle East. Political violence and protest includes events that occur within civil wars and periods of instability, public protest and regime breakdown. ACLED’s aim is to capture the forms, actors, dates and locations of political violence and protest as it occurs across states, and makes both data and analysis open to freely use by the public.

Join us for the amazing opportunity to work with the brilliant ACLED team, facinating data, and your fellow tuggers to add viz clarity to crisis. All skill levels are welcome.  You can work solo, or team up at the event.  We will email out the data, key use cases, and data dictionary one week prior to the TUG.  We will also have Mapbox and Alteryx “doctors” on hand as well as Zen Masters, Allan Walker and Tamas Foldi to help with any mapping, data needs, or questions.  Remote teams are welcome as well via the google hangout registration.

Please also note there will be events by #MakeoverMonday and #WorkoutWednesday the week of August 20 - 24th so there are many exciting ways to dig into the data and help along with your @Tableau #DataFam.
