DC Vision Zero Hackathon
The District Department of Transportation and Open Gov Hub invite civic hackers, transportation geeks, urban planners, academics, community advocates and others to participate in the DC Vision Zero Hackathon on Saturday February 13th.
The Vision Zero Hackathon aims to catalyze dialog about transportation safety and allow residents to analyze and hack new information and data to offer new perspectives. The resulting ideas and tools will be used to help achieve the Vision Zero end goal of eliminating traffic-related deaths in the District by 2024.
Prior to the event, DDOT will make new data sets available online to public partners. Participants will be able to view, analyze and manipulate the information before the in-person event.
The District will publish three new data sets, containing records from approximately 2010 - 2014:
- Crash Data
- Moving Violations
- Parking Violations
During the event, participants will brainstorm and code their way to fresh insights about transportation safety, using newly released open data on traffic crashes and enforcement.
The hackathon will convene diverse groups to analyze information, exchange ideas, and showcase new data visualizations, apps, GIS analysis and other insights to senior city leadership.
Coffee and lunch will be provided.
