Decoded Labs - Learning Hackathon

Join us for a day of breaking things, testing ideas and disrupting online education.

Online learning is broken. One could say it's not even started yet. We at Decoded dream of a future where online learning needn't be a multiple choice quiz bolted to a PowerPoint.

Come create the future of learning with us at a Hackathon in our East London studio. We're having a hack day to prototype new ways of learning online. Please join us! 

Ideas we've prototyped in the past include:

• A chatbot for cybersecurity

• A Chrome extension to demystify technical jargon

• An online ideas hub to teach design thinking 

Who's this for?

Coders, designers, makers, illustrators, videographers, photographers, writers, scientists, anyone interested in learning and technology!

Teams can be formed beforehand, please indicate your team name in the application. For individuals we will facilitate team formation via Slack beforehand and through pitches in the morning.

What will happen on the day?

• 9.30 - 10.00 - Brief and introductions

• 10.00 - 10.30 - Pitches and forming of teams

• 10.30 - 17.00 - Hacking (with lunch provided)

• 17.00 - 18.00 - Demos and drinks 

What do I need to bring

Just a laptop and charger. We'll provide hot & cold drinks, lunch and all the pens and post-it notes you could need.

What do I need to make?

Anything that brings your idea to life. From a paper prototype to a mockup to fully coded prototype.

Is there a prize?

This is not a competitive hackathon but a space to experiment and learn. But teams will all demo their prototypes at the end of the day.

What happens with my prototype after the event?

Teams have full ownership of everything they build at our events and are free to do with it as they wish.

A few weeks before the event we'll invite attendees to a Slack group where we can start discussing specific challenges in the online learning space, ideas and meet potential team mates.
