DementiaHack 2017 - Information Session
The Cube, Startup Sarnia-Lambton, and Lambton College are sending teams of student entrepreneurs to the MaRS Discovery District to help build technologies that can make life easier for those with dementia.
From the competition organizers:
Presented by Facebook, championed by the UK Government and MaRS, and produced by HackerNest, DementiaHack inspires the creation of life-improving hardware and software solutions for those living with dementia and their caregivers. Join the world’s foremost dementia hackathon and help change lives.
If you are interested in adding your expertise to a team, have a team ready to go, or just want to find out more, join Len Payne in N208 at 4:30pm on Wednesday, Feb 8th. If you're interested but can't make that time, or have other questions, reach out to len.payne@lambtoncollege.ca or @LenAtLambton on Twitter.
Successful teams at this type of event come from a mix of backgrounds. To build and present an app/product in 30 hours requires not only the technical know-how to build the thing, but winning teams also have awesome design chops to make it pretty, and someone with a mind for health care that can speak to the need for this particular solution.
This information session is designed to:
- Tell interested students what to expect from a hackathon, and to look over the results of DementiaHack 2015
- Organize the travel arrangements for teams wishing to go to Toronto on Mar 4th-5th to compete
- Help students find talented team members and training opportunities that can prepare them for Toronto
For full event details, please head over to the DementiaHack website at http://hackernest.com/dementiahack/
Sign up for a ticket here to get a reminder about the on-campus information session.
