Design, AI, & Internet of Things (IoT) Bootcamp
Foondi Workshops will be organizing a one-week Design, AI, & Internet of Things (IoT) Bootcamp in collaboration with IBM Research Africa and The Mekatilili Program from 15th - 19th January, 2018.
This 5 day bootcamp will focus on interactive, hands-on workshops, where participants will learn about the principles and use of Design Thinking, Artificial Intelligence using the IBM Watson, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Business Model generation.
Following this training will be a two-day hackathon from 20th - 21st January, 2018, where participants will work in teams to develop innovative solutions to Water Security in Kenya using concepts of Design Thinking, AI, and IoT.
We are seeking a team of software programmers, designers, and engineers to take part in a bootcamp that aims to have teams work on developing solutions that address the water security challenges in Kenya.
The deadline to apply is 8th January, 2018. Limited spaces are available and shortlisted candidates will be notified by 10th January, 2018.

To participate, selected candidates will be required to pay a fee of only KSH 1000. The cost covers: workshop fee, materials, lunch and snacks.
Eligibility & selection criteria:
- Basic programming skills
- Basic electronics knowledge
- Knowledge on Arduino
- Good to have: Past experience building electronics projects.
This program is run in collaboration with the IBM IoT Research Lab, Strathmore iLabAfrica and The Mekatilili Program. The Design, AI, & IoT program is supported by the MIT Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship, the MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund Program, and the MIT D-Lab.

Is there an application process?
To be considered for the workshop, participants are required to submit a completed application form by 8th January 2018. Only successful applicants will be notified by 10th January 2018.

Are there any other additional costs?
No. Selected candidates will be required to only pay the workshop fee of KSH 1000 for the duration of the program and the hackathon.
I don't meet all the eligibility criteria, can I still apply?
Due to the technical content of the workshop, we are only seeking candidates who meet ALL the eligibility criteria.
