Drupal Mini Hackathon!
It's Drupal Global Training Days!
This time I thought we do a different thing. We are going to build a Drupal 8 application from scratch with all the best possible practices! And we are going to do it together!
I can hear you have questions!
When do we start?
We will start at 11am on Saturday, June the 3rd, 2017.
What is the structure?
I will teach some concepts and then we build part of the application, then I'll teach some other concepts and then we continue building the application and we go on.
The goal is to have built an application that meets the minimum requirements by 4pm.
What do I need to know before I attend? What are required skills? Do I need to bring a computer? Can I just watch what you are doing?
Ok, sure! Let me put it this way. The only requirement is to be excited to see the process of building a Drupal web application.
You can just sit and watch as we are building the application.
If you bring your computer, you can also build your own version, instead of just watching!
I am not a developer, what can I do?
You will see how a Drupal application is built. Most of it will be technical, but not all. If you are a designer, or a site builder, or a business analyst or the product owner, it will help you understand the process and also Drupal concepts.
What will be covered?
- Drupal main concepts/terminologies
- Setting up a development environment and deployment environment
- Working with terminal; Composer & Drupal; Drupal Console
It will be mainly about site building rather than module development.
Can I work on my own project?
Yes! you can be sitting in a corner, listening to the teaching bits and then build your own project as we are building our project.
So, what are you building?
We are building a review system. If it sounds boring, I should tell you that it's not! Details, at the event!!
Timing?
Here is the rough timing:
10am -- Explaining the project that we are building
10:30am -- Preparing everyone's development environment.
11am -- Teach then Build; and goes on...
(A lunch break for an hour)
4pm -- We will have built a minimum viable product!
Who is the facilitator?
It's me, Alexar Pendashteh. I have been using Drupal for a while for personal, community and commercial projects.
Oh, I can't make it...
... no worries! Look out for upcoming mentoring events on Drupal Melbourne meetup:
