Join Fair Food Challenge in drafting a Fair Food Policy for Australian Universities.
University food policies are common in Britain, Canada and America yet there are very few in Australian institutions. Fair Food Challenge has been researching this gap and has collected a body of evidence to look at how we might be able to formulate food plans for Australian universities.
Food policies cover accessibility to healthy and affordable food, procurement, research, access to spaces to grow, cook, eat and share food, organic waste management and more. They are an opportunity to create joined-up policy and break down the silos that limit collaboration in instituional environments.
We are drafting a model fair food plan to present at a stakeholder workshop on the 12th of August - this is our chance to present our vision for fair food universities to university administrators, academics, students and community stakeholders.
To do this, we need you.
We're bringing together a group of the brighest young minds we know to set the agenda for Australian university food policy.
The writeshop will be facilitated by Michelle Kovacevic using Self Spark's Personal Hackathon model. Over two days we will use the collected evidence to identify food policy priorities and opprtunities and draft a report and resources to present to university stakeholders for feedback.
Day One: 9:30am-10pm
Day Two: 11:30-6:30pm
We are aiming to have participants to join us for the whole weekend.
Event is by invitation only. If you know someone you think should join us, please get in touch and let us know.
Food and refreshments will be provided. Drinks will follow at the conclusion of the writeshop on the Sunday evening, details TBA.
