FinTech Weekend After Party Hosted by Byte Academy

Byte Academy is thrilled to bring together innovators and leaders in the FinTech, finance, business and technology worlds in an after party for the first ever FinTech Weekend.  The party will bring together both the participants of  events that we have partnered on including the Break the Banks Hackathon with  Transferwise and Oxygen Startups  in addition to  Brunchwork's largest power brunch ever - the first FinTech power brunch in which our founder in addition to the founders of CommonBond and SeedInvest will speak.

A celebration based on a  core idea of FinTech - fusing both business and/or finance skills with technology skills, particpants of the FinTech brunch and of the Hackathon, both leaning towards different sectors, face the same challenge at the separate, earlier events - create and pitch a FinTech company addressing items such as creativity, functioionality, marketing, scalability and more.  After winners are chosen, they will come together to connect, discuss ideas, and network with others and FinTech and Byte communitymembers over drinks and other fiid.  Please RSVP through eventbrite in attend.

Transferwise: Recently valued at $1 billion, Transferwise is  peer-to-peer money transfer service launched in January 2011with headquarters in London and offices in Tallinn, Estonia and New York.  More than £3 billion has been transferred through TransferWise which  supports more than 300 currency routes across the world. Named as one of "East London's 20 hottest tech startups" by The GuardianTransferWise was also named by TechCrunch as one of five "start-ups to watch" at Seedcamp's 2012 US Demo Day.  In May 2015, Transferwise was ranked No. 8 on CNBC's 2015 Disruptor 50 list.

CommonBond:marketplace lending platform that lowers the cost of student loans for borrowers and provides financial returns to investors. The company refinances graduate and undergraduate student loans for graduates of over 2,000 universities, saving the average borrower over $14,000 over the life of the loan. CommonBond also provides in-school loans to current MBA students at 20 programs in the United States. The company launched nationally in September 2013 and is on track to fund or refinance more than $500 million in student loans by the end of 2015.CommonBond completed its first securitization of student loans in June 2015. With an investment-grade rating from Moody's of 'Baa2' and DBRS of 'A (high),' the company securitized approximately $100 million of student loan assets. The transaction marked the first time Moody’s has issued an investment-grade rating for a first-time-issuing marketplace lending platform.

SeedInvest: An equity crowdfunding platform that connects startups with investors online. The company was founded in 2011 and launched in 2013. SeedInvest has focused on building liquidity in the platform by attracting high-net-worth individuals, family offices and venture capital firms. SeedInvest screens and vets deals before allowing them to take advantage of the JOBS Act exemption permitting General Solicitation. In The founders Ryan Feit and James Han were involved in consultation with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and in the United States Congress for the passing of the JOBS Act which included provisions that permit online equity crowdfunding by platforms such as SeedInvest. SeedInvest hosted the first Testing The Waters campaign under the new Regulation A rules for equity crowdfunding on June 19 2015.

Yodlee Interactive:  Built on the foundation of Yodlee, an American software company launched in 1999 that develops an account aggregation service  that allows uers to see their credit card, bank, investment, email, travel reward accounts, etc. on one screen. YI empowers visionary entrepreneurs, partners, and developers to build the next generation of disruptive and innovative FinDat solutions using the award-winning Yodlee platform.
