Former US Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra & UChicago Civic Hackathon

South Side Civic (SSC), a Harris student-led group, the UChicago Institute of Politics (IOP), the Department of Computer Science, and the Chicago Harris School for Puplic Policy are partnering to host the first-ever two-day UChicago Civic Hackathon, on Friday, October 9th, and Saturday, October 10th, at the Chicago Innovation Exchange. This event will introduce students and community leaders to civic hacking and create a space for members of the University and Chicago communities to workshop solutions to local civic problems. The UChicago Civic Hackathon is part of a larger effort to encourage young people to engage in their communities and learn how they can partner with local organizations to foster social change.

The keynote address will be on Friday at 4pm, and will be given by the first U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra. Following his address, Mr. Chopra will be joined by the City of Chicago's Chief Data Officer Tom Schenk for a moderated Q&A. Reception and the civic hackathon to follow.
