French Embassy Hackathon: Education

BACKGROUND

The French Embassy Hackathon Series is a French Embassy in the US initiative in partnership with General Assembly's Joseph Nelson and Zach Thomas to encourage Franco-US integration, particularly in education. The series consists of two hackathons. Following the great success of our first event that focused on student mobility, we're welcoming signups for the second hackathon that seeks to improve US schools through French immersion programs.

This signup is for the singe day hackathon on March 11; you did not have to participate in the first hackathon to join us for the second. Developers and UX designers of all levels and backgrounds are welcome to attend. All those whom participate are invited to attend a follow-up reception at the French Embassy, where the winners of the hackathon will present their findings to Embassy staff. The hackathon has a capped number of attendees.

TOPIC: FRENCH EDUCATION PROGRAMS

The French Embassy works with a number of US schools to provide French education immersion programs. These programs both strengthen early education programming and provide cultural awareness and integration, a key mission of the French Embassy in the US.

At present, schools lack sufficient staffing for these programs while many individuals seeking opportunities in French education are not finding the chances. In this hackathon, participants will be tasked with creating solutions to resolve this inefficiency (a fuller brief will be provided by the Embassy staff on the day of the hackathon).
