Future Work for Emerging Business | Pre-Summit Panel

    The creators of the National Future Work Summit have put together a pre-summit panel to highlight the future of work for emerging business! The panel will consist of members from IBM, SALESFORCE, GITHUB, MICROSOFT and HUDSON. Our speakers will discuss their business journeys and how they manage technology, agility, skills and capabilities gaps while experiencing significant growth. Facilitator: Michelle Mannering- Hackathon QueenKnown as the Melbourne's “Hackathon Queen”, Michelle Mannering is at the forefront of the city's startup, science, and tech scenes, running a number of hackathons and helping to drive the city’s entrepreneurial culture. She facilitates a multitude of events around innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, science and the arts, which has given her insights into the professional culture of Melbourne. Not only has she founded several companies, but she is heavily involved in the startup ecosystem. She is currently involved in a new venture, MishManners, running innovation workshops and hackathons. Panellists: Travis Smith - Teacher Engagement Manager at MicrosoftTravis Smith has over 11 years of experience in the classroom and has managed one of the first 1-to-1 technology programs in the country. During his teaching career, he lectured at Monash University in the Education Faculty and has worked as an Assistant Principal. Travis has presented at conferences worldwide on the effective use of technology in the classroom and has co-facilitated events including the Worldwide Microsoft Partners in Learning Forum in Washington DC and Prague for teachers and leaders from over 70 countries. His current role at Microsoft involves managing Microsoft’s education programs, professional learning experiences and providing insights into the role of technology in education.Sam Hunt - Director of APAX at GithubSam Hunt is GitHub’s Director for APAC. Sam leads a talented local team and is responsible for overseeing regional partnerships, community engagement, customer support and sales across the region. Sam joined GitHub in 2015, bringing 18 years of local IT industry experience. He specialises in business efficiency applications with a focus on improved collaboration. Prior to GitHub, Sam worked for organisations such as Progress Software, Alfresco, Intelledox, Hitachi Data Systems and Corporate Express, specialising in business solutions driving efficiency, transparency and cost reduction. Sam is passionate about bringing better technology education to the K-12 community in ANZ and throughout APAC. Ben Smillie - Director of Strategy and Architecture at SalesforceBen Smillie studied Manufacturing Systems Engineering at RMIT and worked as an Electronic Technician on Arcade games and Audio Systems in Melbourne. After several years in the industry, he returned to study computer science and programming. He spent 3 years at Telstra in Information Management and Datawarehousing then moved to Financial Services with GE Capital Australia and New Zealand. After working for 18 years in Banking and Financial services, he joined Salesforce. Ben is currently a Director of Strategy and Architecture at Salesforce in Melbourne, driving enterprise adaption and value from the Salesforce platform and ecosystem.   Leon Gouletsas - Experience Lead for the IBM Cloud GarageLeon is the Experience Lead for the IBM Cloud Garage, a consultancy that teaches developers, designers and architects from organisations into a co-design, co-develop facilitation to build new experiences and services in the cloud. After launching the business in Australia and New Zealand market, Leon with his team at the IBM Cloud Garage has helped countless enterprises and government organisations explore new value streams and rapidly build production-quality applications. Leon has a rich history facilitating tech education programs such as Startup Weekend, Google Developer Group and NEXT to help startups validate, scale and grow. He has led disruptive efforts in industries including transport (goCatch), crowdfunding (Indiegogo) and enterprise cloud (Bluemix).Clea Wallage - Operations Director at HudsonClea Wallage is a Registered Psychologist with over 15 years experience designing, managing and implementing a wide range of Talent Management solutions for large global organisations. As Operations Director for Hudson Talent Management, she is responsible for leading the Talent Management solutions strategy that includes assessment for selection, leadership development and career transition. She leads her team to drive innovation and continuous improvement and is particularly focused on ensuring that all solutions are designed in a way that supports clients to understand and be best prepared for new work practices.
