Gender Equality Hackathon - Barking and Dagenham

Barking and Dagenham’s gender equality hackathon is a two-day event aiming to create a collaborative space for the development of new tools and innovations tackling some of our biggest gender equality challenges.

You don’t have to be tech-savvy to take part. We want you to bring your individual skills and professional experiences to brainstorm, discuss and find solutions together. Everyone will be working in groups and it will help if there are people with diverse skill sets.

We will be focusing on two challenges – inequalities in employment and pay, and safety. The goal of the weekend is to create a prototype product addressing one of these challenges.

There will be a £500 fund to further develop the winning innovation.

The event is free of charge and food will be provided for participants. Please note that this is a two day event and participants should attend both days.

Creche facilities will be provided for children under 8 years old. If you would like to book a place for your child at the creche, please email GEC@lbbd.gov.uk by Tuesday 30th January 2018.
