GO OPEN DATA CONFERENCE 2016 (GOOD16)

The 4th annual GO Open Data Conference will be held on May 6 & 7 in York Region, hosted by ventureLAB, the area’s Regional Innovation Centre providing support for innovative entrepreneurs, many of whom use open data to build businesses based on open data or create disruptive solutions to an existing problem.

The theme for this year's conference is Better Living Through Open Data. The conversation will focus on how open data can be used to create innovative solutions and new businesses that help address community problems such as transportation or affordable housing.

Open data means transparency and efficiency in government. It means more engaged citizens, bringing together public and private organizations and bridging gaps.

Open data can range from maps and transit feeds to energy consumption, food inspections and beach water testing and more. Open data is disruptive. It has the potential to create a better future for everyone. It’s about creating dialogue, creating innovative technologies and highlighting the real business needs for open data.
