Government-wide Earth Day Hackathon

Celebrate Earth Day, April 22nd, 2016, with us at our Government-wide Earth Day Hackathon.

Coders, designers, engineeers, data scientists, and SMEs from industry, academia, and government are all invited.  GSA's Office of Citizen Services, and Innovative Technologies and 18F (OCSIT/18F) is hosting a 'Green' software programming and data innovation competition on Friday, April 22, 2016.  

GSA's OCSIT/18F organization will be partnering with the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the General Services Administration (GSA), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the United States Forest Service (USFS).

 OCSIT/18F shall present Green Sustainability projects for participants to work on.  Participants will be competing on teams to develop APIs, mobile/web applications, dashboards and solutions.  

LOCATION:  This event will be held at the GSA Central Office Building, 1800 F Street NW, Washington, DC, 20405.  All participants are required to check in with Security upon arrival.  Please enter through the main entrance on 18th & F Street, and follow the posted signs to Conference Center Rooms 1459, 1460, and 1461.  A Government issued ID is required to gain access into the Building (Drivers License, ID Badge, etc.).  On-site registration shall begin at 8:30 a.m. (EST) with the competition starting at 9:00 a.m. (EST).

NOTE TO ALL PARTICIPANTS: By completing and submitting this Registration form, all participants agree to adhere to all Hackathon Rules and Guidance, and give their permission for any Photos or Video that might be taken during the competition.  Federal Employees may participate in the event, but are NOT eligible to win a prize.  

REGISTRATION NOTE: Only 1 Ticket per participant is allowed for the Government-wide Earth Day Hackathon.  Any completed registrations with more than 1 Ticket selected shall be canceled, and the participant shall receive an email asking them to complete the registration process again.  

CHECK IN / REQUIRED FORMOn the day of the event stop by the Registration table to obtain your Name Badge, and sign the following document: Gratuitous Service Agreement (Signature is Required).

PRIZES: GSA OCSIT/18F shall award $1,000 to each member of a winning team.  GSA is not required to award all prizes if the Judges determine that a smaller number of entries meet the scope and requirements laid out for this competition, or if GSA OCSIT/18F plans to only use code from a smaller number of winning entries.  Prizes will be awarded to the winner(s) of the competition via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), within 60 days of announcing the winner(s).
