Social, Economic & Environmental Solutions Through Open Gov Data
GovHack is back for 2018! Following the success of the first GovHack in the Northern Territory last year, 2018 is already shaping up to be bigger and better!
As Australia’s largest and wide spread hackathon – GovHack encourages participants to identify and try solving deep-rooted social, economic and environmental challenges through open data. Open data is publicly available data usually made available and accessible by governments of all levels, to promote collaboration, innovation, transparency, strengthen democracy, and develop trust.
2017 saw over 3,000 participants, mentors and volunteers came together in 36 locations across Australia and New Zealand to search for new applications and uses for open data that is often over-looked or underutilised. GovHack participants include coders, designers, analysts, creatives and others who want to tap into the vast amount of information available and create something new, innovative and meaningful from it.
